Eyesight Prosthetic

Post by GunnyGene » Wed Jul 15, 2020 2:47 pm

Aftermarket gun sights that are ordered on-line should be labeled differently. I ordered a set of XS sights 5 days ago and it's still sitting in the Ft. Worth USPS facility. Since the USPS and other shippers prioritize medical supplies over all other shipments (as noted on the USPS site), in the future I think the shipper should label the package as "Eyesight Prosthetic" (in this case) to speed things up at the post office. ;)

Good idea Gunny. USPS is notoriously slow, regardless of what's in the box. Maybe you could get the shipper to mark it so. Worth a try, LOL

The big dots for my Sig P365 came in the mail this morning. Got 'em installed. As expected the front sight base had to be filed some to fit in the dovetail, but other than that it's pretty simple. Too hot to shoot this afternoon, so tomorrow morning I'll burn a few rounds to make sure they are staying put.

I followed this guy's instructions, except I did some caliper measuring to center the sights instead of just eyeballing it:

They are a definite improvement over the factory sights. Much easier to line up on a target. I can actually see it even without my glasses! Which is good if we're invaded while sleeping. 😁 They ain't cheap tho. $132.

I'd recommend them for a carry gun, especially if you have vision problems with a small front target style sight, which is usually what is installed at the factory. These are "combat" sights for fast target acquisition, not bullseye/competition sights.
