Marine, as usual, makes some good points on using iron sights. I still love shooting iron sights and always will, even with these old eyes. The difference, now, is not so much that I can't shoot some good groups with irons. It's more that my eyes fatigue and tire so quickly, compared to when I was young. I'm good for about thirty minutes and, even then, it takes a day with good lighting. After 30 minutes, it's time for a scope or red dot if I want to keep on shooting. On any given range trip, I start with iron sight guns, first, for that reason.
