45 Colt on the range
45 Colt on the range
Went out to do a little shooting the other morning. Included in the mix was my 45 Colt Henry.
Shot these 2 groups at 100 yards. I sighted in with a different load, so this load was hitting several inches to the left of POA. For the second group, I just gave it some Kentucky windage (since I'm in Kentucky, lol). Three holes are visible, but there are actually 4 shots in there, unless I had a wild flyer clear off the paper (seems unlikely).

Re: 45 Colt on the range
I just picked up my Marlin 1894CB in .45LCfrom the local FFL. I hope mine shoots as good as yours.

Re: 45 Colt on the range
It's taken me a good while to find the accuracy I want, but I now have several loads developed for different bullets. Some I push fairly hard, like the XTP and XTP Mag, some suffer in accuracy when you push too much. These were 240gr Sierra JHP over 20.5gr AA #9. About 1525 fps, if my memory is correct.

Re: 45 Colt on the range
Very nice shooting with the .45 Colt! Which Henry rifle do you have?
Re: 45 Colt on the range
I have both the CCH and blued steel models. This one was the blued steel. I used the CCH last year for deer season and liked the results, but I decided it was too nice to get beat up dragging around the woods, so I bought the blued steel one to be my "woods gun."fortyshooter wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 4:37 pmVery nice shooting with the .45 Colt! That is some good shooting! I have the same Henry you shot. Very accurate. That is a fine load.
