Our Morning Coffee and Weather

75 and going up ten more degrees before the day is out. Going to move the last items from my garage to my parents for storage. Officially no more room at my new digs. The rest will be donated to Good Will and the the dumpster can come.

Coffee first. No time to percolate. The list is piling up quickly. I froze the sauce from earlier this week. Now I'm serving seven for dinner. Going to the best bakery to get a few loaves of Italian bread after moving the stuff.

4:15 AM and 64*. It was pretty steamy yesterday and it looks to be a repeat for today. I have to make a trip today for one of the LGS to pick up reloading supplies and ammo. It is usually a 5 hour round trip if I get loaded up with out much waiting.

Morning all from Jonesboro, Georgia. A sticky 74 degrees this morning. No rain yesterday and only a 40% chance of rain today. Sure would be nice to get some much needed rain. Take care and be safe.

Good Morning from sizzlin' KCMO! Just checked my web weather hoping they wouldn't agree with the local weather report last night. Nuts, they do agree. We're under an "extreme heat advisory" through next weekend. Temps are predicted for Thurs & Fri to be 100*, very high humidity, and heat index of 110* or higher. Even a little hard to breathe this morning out on the patio, temp at 77*. I moved all the plants out of direct sunlight to some shade under the above apartment's wood deck. Maybe if the plants could talk, they'd be gasping "water-water-water!"

Ah, brings to mind the song, "In the good 'ole summertime....." The best lyrics phrase in the song is "...Strolling through the shady lanes...."

It's not supposed to be too bad today weatherwise, we shall see.

A new mug for today. I'm not sure there's room in the cupboard, but this one is kind of special.



As you can see, it's from Scotland. I attended a Boy Scout International Jamborette at Blair Atholl Scotland in 1982. I don't think I bought this cup, I think it was the coffee cup that was issued in the adult mess. I was in Scotland almost a month. I saw several interesting places, including going to St. Andrews and seeing the "old course". At Blair Atholl, we toured the castle. I met royalty there also, being introduced to the Duke of Atholl and the King of Sweden.

I am donating my scout memorabilia to the local council. I called yesterday and they would gladly accept my items. I attended two national jamborees as well as the international jamborette. I have two boxes of coffee cups and two boxes of scout patches and other items. They said they have a museum. I figure that's a good place for my stuff. I haven't seen it in years. As I went through it yesterday, several pleasant memories came back to me. As my collection goes, I had some really good stuff. At the time, it was all the rage with me and my buddies. Now, I'd like to share it with others.

I had two of these mugs, so one will stay with me. I think it will get along fine with plain jane. Some of the larger tanker mugs will likely find their way to camp. I like a large cup of coffee up there in the am.

We're having a bit of a break from humidity today and temps will only be in mid to upper eighties. The windows are open and the cat would have been thrilled about that if it weren't for the noise of saws and drills and hammers created by the workman who's installing a storm door and a bit of trim. She's taken a safe position behind the living room couch.

56* at 4:20 AM. Feels good to not be hot and muggy. It is calling for 91* here today so it will probably be at least the same at work in W.V. More than likely have a busy day with getting the trade-ins cleaned up that got traded since I was there last Thursday. Coffee is ready now and wish everyone a good day and be safe.

Should be around 92 today, coffee is done and ready to start the day. Finally get to start on the new house next week. Taking almost two weeks off to get painting, flooring and stuff moved in. Be closer to some great hunting and fishing areas and closer to my gun range. Can't wait.

I'm having coffee with another old friend this morning.



I went to my house to be sure there were no other Scout related items to donate before dropping them off. I found this mug new in the box. I don't know why it was alone on a shelf, but I decided there were so many duplicates in my mug collection that this one would stay with me. I attended the 85 Jamboree as a leader. I enjoyed that one the most, if I remember correctly.

When I went to the local council headquarters, I was a bit surprised. I walked in and it was staffed by all women. The Boy Scout council staffed by all women. Ha. None to friendly either. I spoke with a woman who barely looked up from her desk and said if I wanted a letter for the donation, to put my name and information on a paper and they would send a letter. After bringing it all in, I went to the attached store. I bought some Eagle Scout items I didn't have and chatted with the man behind the counter. He was in a uniform that would have made a German general jealous. He was friendlier, but had not done any of the scout activities I had. I guess things change. We camped and enjoyed the outdoors. We learned to survive and thrive in the wild. We went all over the country and the world to meet other scouts. I did get a fancy new hiking tee shirt that did all kinds of moisture wicking, the girlfriend wanted me to get another. This one had the Official Boy Scout information on the tag. Not everything changes lol.

We camped and enjoyed the outdoors. We learned to survive and thrive in the wild. We went all over the country and the world to meet other scouts.

My scouting experience was a lot like yours, though you had much more of it. We camped in winter and summer, hiked and explored woods and waterways and learned teamwork. I totally enjoyed it.

Today in CT will be hot, but still dry. Enjoy your day.
