In The New Place

Post by BrokenolMarine » Sat Jun 13, 2020 4:29 pm

We closed on Monday.

:P

Was beginning to think the phrase: Just a couple more things, just a couple more days" would haunt me forever. But we closed at 2pm, and after an hour of signing and initialing an inch thick stack of paperwork we drove the half hour back to "OUR HOUSE." There we had a crew of six or so waiting to start unloading those big uhauls. My daughter, two of her friends, two high school kids, and one brokenolmarine. We hit it hard. :D

We knocked out all of one truck and got thru about a third of the other. Then, for some reason, the sun went down. What? Looked at my watch, it was after 9pm... How did that happen? :?

The high school boys went home, they had practice the next morning.
My daughter's friends headed back south, they had to work the next morning.
We went inside, to rest, then out back and jumped in the pool.

The next day, we started to unpack a few boxes while waiting for the boys to finish practice.
Around 1pm, they arrived. We spent the rest of the day unloading the last truck. It was finally done around eight pm. Sent the boys home. My son in law drove up to fetch my daughter.

Miss T and I stayed up late unpacking, got up early, back at it. (Wednesday). The day zipped by.

Thursday we drove back down south, picked up the second Nissan, the kayaks and kayak trailer and the rest of our stuff from the RV. Drove back home. My lower back didn't enjoy the trip, at all. By the end of the trip... I was in agony. I suspected I had aggravated an old military back injury.

I was wrong. Woke up early Friday to a dull back pain... ... It steadily got worse. I tried the heating pad and the Jacuzzi. It kept getting more intense, and localized. So bad I felt nauseated.
What? .Kidney Stone... I had never had one. Miss Tina passes about a half dozen a year. When I told my loving wife what I suspected...

She laughed at me. :D :)
I told her I didn't think this was a laughing matter... While doubled over in pain.
She... Laughed... Harder.
"Now you get to see what I've been going thru all these years."

She did drive me to the ER, and after a few tests, they admitted me.
IVs to push the stone, and pain meds
If I don't pass it by Monday, they will knock me out and do a procedure.

I love my new house...
I haven't gotten to enjoy much of it yet...

Congratulations to you both Jim. I know you are happy to have a lot behind you, however, a lot ahead as well.
Don't over do it as you get organized and settle in. The fun parts are yet to come. Personalizing a new place can be very rewarding. I hope to talk to you some time soon.
Please post some pics when you feel ready!

Had a kidney stone, that didn’t pass, and the pain is unbelievable. It lodged between the kidney and bladder, they had to go get it. Haven’t had one stuck since. ;)

Once I got back from the hospital the following Tuesday, after surgery on Monday, I hit the ground running. I had my home office, loading room, and shop that needed attention, as well as numerous honey dos that popped up as Tina worked on the rest of the house.

Boxes, nothing but boxes. Far as the eye could see. I attacked them one at a time, breaking them down and moving the broken down boxes outside. Ten days later, the foam guy is a day away and my workshop is almost ready.

Pics will eventually appear, I promise.
