New from Northern Idaho
Morning,
New to the forum, New to Henry ownership, New to lever. Headed to LGS in a little bit to pick up (ordered) a .44 in steel carbine. Should make a fine truck/camper/UTV gun. Might hang a set of skinner sights-will see how the buckhorn does with old eyes. I had taken the scope off my AR and went to back to the ghost ring and worked fine.
PS I did add my new Henry to the forum total, and the weather here is cloudy and 57. LOL

Hey Paratus! Welcome from Nebraska. Great opening post, covered most of the bases. Only thing missing was the pic. Lol. We’ll give you that one, no gun yet.
Enjoy that Henry.
Enjoy that Henry.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

Hi. Also a newbie here. Sounds like we bought the same rifle: BBS .44 Mag (H012R). I am Very please with my new/first Henry. Also considering an optic solution to help these 67 year old eyes. The semi-buckhorn just won't do it for me. Take care & have fun.

JEBar-
To answer you- yes a hunter, not I don't roll my own-reload. Always wanted to get to that point, and now I am jettisoning more stuff than aquiring Said the guy with a new gun.....
It all started with the youngest son having trouble finding an AR (at a price he was willing to pay) and me tired of having multiple calibers/platforms, and a storage issue. So the AR went to the son, two "fun boxes" of ammo and mags to both sons and sold off multiple others. Now just a 9mm and the afore mentioned .44.

Re: New from Northern Idaho
outside of the largest bears, within its range, a 44 Mag is a great big game hunting caliber .... over the years we've taken black bear, boar and deer with 44's .... the good news is one has a considerable range of ammo available to pick from .... looking forward to future range reports and use impression as you become better acquainted with your Henry

When I used to bear hunt, most of the club members carried 44's. Only a mis-placed shot would not drop any size bear. Bear shots are hardly ever long range.
