PPU Brass

as an observation .... while depriming some 38 Special brass I came across a bunch with a PPU head stamp ===> https://www.ppu-usa.com/ppu/handgun/ .... I honestly have no clue where they came from, nor any idea as to the quality .... what I do know is, while there is no sign of a military crimp, they take more pressure to deprime than any of the other cases we have .... Winchester is second .... RP, Federal, Starline, Speer required about the same

I dont know how many you have but they will be tough to prime also There pockets are tight. At my place they go in the brass recycle bucket.

good to know .... when I get that far if they give me much trouble, I'll most likely get rid of them

Indeed, ppu brass have a bad reputation. Not recommended for quality reloads

I picked up bunch of 9mm and found it didn’t size properly. Almost every round failed the chamber test. I toss them now.

I don't have any experience with PPU pistol brass but I have had problems with their 30-30 brass. PPU brass seems to be harder but they worked ok if I annealed them. I do not think PPU's quality control is very good.

thanks guys .... info appreciated .... as already noted, I have no clue how they got into our pile .... we have more 38 Special brass than we will ever need so I believe that when I come to one it will be gone

Jim, PPU is made in Serbia. I acquired an empty box somewhere that I put my handload in. Remington brass for those.

I have a Model 99 Savage in .303 Savage which was manufactured in 1903. I t was my Grandfather's rifle, and he was a guide for the "Robber Barons" of the early 20th century who had lavish homes in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York which doubled as hunting lodges. This rifle is still a fine shooter punching 3" groups at 75 Yards. .303 Savage factory ammo is difficult to get, but, from time to time, Norma and PPU make runs of .303 Savage brass. The Norma Brass is great, but is ungodly expensive. So, about 10 years ago I switched to PPU brass and I have been satisfied with its performance. It is available through Graf & Sons.
