nascar trying to be like all the other cool kids on today's block. I tuned them out several years ago and just watched a bit if it was bad weather
around here and not much going on. Now I'll just watch the paint dry or the grass grow!

I believe the (1) nut will be on the next gen car for 2021

If they really implement that, it will be another nail in the coffin for Nascar.

Think about the pit crew members as well. What a slap in the face to those guys who have mastered that craft.

I say it will be another nail in the coffin, last night they came close to closing the lid.

My wife was going through some old pictures yesterday and found this shot. In the foreground in the Texaco Havoline jacket is Davey Allison and to his right in the green checkered shirt is Kenny Schrader.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s there was a NASCAR racing series out here called the Winston West Series. This series was a lower series just under today’s Xfinity series which was the Busch Grand National back then. One of the Winston West events was held in Monroe Washington at the Evergreen Speedway. This was a 500 lap race with pit stops on the 5/8’s mile track.

In 1993 my brother and I traveled to Monroe (a days drive) and attended the race. We just had grandstand tickets and no pit passes. We were wandering around before the race and noticed a pit gate was unmanned for some reason. So of course we “wandered” into the pit area and found ourselves at the pre-race drivers meeting. I’m standing there about 20’ from Davey and Kenny and took this pic. Sadly it was just a few months later that Davey was killed in the helicopter crash. RIP Davey.

This race always had a few Cup drivers, this year Davey and Kenny or course. The prior year I was there with my wife and Bill Elliott and Sterling Marlin were the featured drivers. This was a three day event, Friday night was the locals running both the oval and the figure eight in the infield. I had the pleasure of watching Bill Elliott drive a figure eight car in the race in the rain. Really reminded me that all these great drivers had humble starts. (BTW, Bill won the race and somewhere I have a picture of him holding up the trophy)

Anyone watch the Busch race yesterday?

Gragson was first and Dale, Jr although way behind, was second.

I wanted a caution. It would have put them both together on the restart, but in my opinion, even though I would have loved it, Jr was not going to make Gragson lose. After all, it's his own driver who is running for a possible Championship. Well I got the caution, lol. Only like cautions do at the end, neither won.

But that said, I was glad to see Burton win it.

Another favorite of mine.

By the way, I'm boycotting Nascar, they just don't know it yet, lol.

Yeah, a bit disappointed with NASCAR recently. Ken Schrader is one driver fellow I would have really liked to meet. He was the real deal. When he took over for Tim Richmond, he soared! The guy would and did drive anything on an oval or road course. Always understood him to a stand up person. He was my favorite while he was racing.

No it was actually Harrison, Jeff's son.

I agree, I like all the Burton's.

Wish Ward would have stuck with racing after he lost his Cup rides.

I’ve watched NASCAR since the 70’s when they were first televised but lost interest about four years ago. Football got too political about four years ago and I stopped watching baseball last year. Even movies bore me now.

I guess I don’t need someone or something to entertain me anymore. Most of my heroes are long gone.

The outdoors is all I need when there's nothing else to do. Mother Nature does not get political, and one can always go shooting!
