Got lucky again today
A friend was out my way and stopped by to chat for a while. We talked motorcycles, cars and guns. I remembered the cards I shot the other day were still on the shelf on the porch. I showed them to him and he is one to not believe anything he didn't see. So I cut some card board and taped the cards on and put them up at the 22 yd. target board. I shot three shots and didn't split the card and all three shots left a gray streak on the card. I then moved the peep adjustment two clicks left. Then I hit the card on the left side and it cut it but not dead on the front but got in to it about half way and tore it toward the rear. One click back right. I then tried the next card and I looked at with the small binoculars before shooting and thought it looked off center on the card board but I shot anyway. It didn't make a clean front to rear cut so I walked out and straightened it up so it was more in line with my bench. It looked good through the binoculars and the next shot was a perfect front to rear cut. My friend wanted to try the peeps sights and I don't have a clue where he shot but I think he was looking over the rear sight and only used the front. I believe he shot over the board into the field twice and said "those sights are junk". I told him bring his Savage 22 with his scope out the next trip and we will see if those aperture sights are junk or not. Then I tore a piece of paper with no holes in it I had been using for the pellet rifle and put it up at the 22 yd. board to sight back in on the push pins. I know you have to sight in on the target you plan to shoot at or it can be off. Well right after hitting the cards I shot four shots at the pin and this is where it hit shooting at it. All four shot were almost a single bullet hole but off to the left. One of my friends that shot bench rest for years told me about sighting in on the target you plan to use a long time ago and I actually thought he was full of it. But I was wrong.

I don't know how the guy can say the sights are crap, you hit just fine with them. Sounds to me like the difference was in the shooter!

Lucky is when you don't try and just wing it. I think we can agree that you have the skill to make your own luck.
