Re: Henry "movie moments"
Know what you mean about long range shooting with a revolver when there is a rifle at hand. I guess it's just movie s.o.p.or such.

1969 True Grit http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065126/ with John Wayne as Rooster Cogburn .... the story is based on tracking down the villain Tom Chaney who killed the father of Mattie Ross .... Chaney was repeatedly characterized as carrying a Henry rifle .... Rooster carried a Winchester

Re: Henry "movie moments"
in the 1961 movie "The Comancheros" the rifles John Wayne as Capt. Jake Cutter goes undercover to sell to the Comancheros were Henry rifles .... most of the other rifles seen in the movie were Winchesters

JEBar, that is one of my very favorite JW movies. I think I've watched it twenty times since I was a pre-teen, most lately in 50" widescreen HD in my living room!! Better than when I was a kid in the Abbey Theater on Sunday afternoon.

Re: Henry "movie moments"
Was just watching "The Last Stand at Saber River" Tom Selleck has one.
Watched the "Quick and the Dead"in the scene where they show Sharon Stone remembering her father being hung. One guy rides up and throws one to somebody standing on the ground.

Re: Henry "movie moments"
Those Henry's get around. Sabre River is a good movie; watched it about a month ago. Although there's no Henry's in it, Conagher is one of my favorites, and Appaloosa is right up there too. Appaloosa is bang on for period correct attire and gear. I also have the Deadwood series; very accurate with all of the costumes and sets....but the language is tough to take.

Re: Henry "movie moments"
You are correct. It's a Henry that he cuts loose on the bandits with. "Hombre! Don't shoot no more!!" they yell at him...good movie.Vaquero wrote:The one at the end he is using sure looked like one. But I could be wrong.

RR just watched it again. When the Mexican comes back with supplies and drops off the rifles, he's got one also.
