Hiking Palisades Lakes Trail

Post by Sir Henry » Fri Jul 15, 2016 12:06 pm

We had a good turn out for the YMCA hike at Mt. Rainier. The hikes in the national park are always popular. Here is the gang and all the regulars went. The YMCA bus is in the parking lot. There was about six cars and a dozen people in the background but I photoshopped them out.

Usually we start at the lower elevation and hike up but this one we dropped down into a basin. We had lots of downed trees on the trail.

Rom, Lorri and I were out front and we didn't see the rest of the hikers very much.

This was our destination.

But the three of us went on to another small lake and got this view of Mt. Adams.

That view/photo of Mt. Adams is really beautiful -- all the scenery is most enjoyable to look at.

Have you ever done any hiking down south in OR? There is some beautiful country there, too. One place I never got to see was Crater Lake, more in the south of OR. Have you been or hiked anywhere in that area? Do you have pics of Crater Lake? Those would be cool to see.

Thanks for taking us along. Most of us are not even out of breath from the climbs!!

Beautiful. When I saw the title, I thought you were referring to Palisades NJ. Those pisc would nit have been as nice, except perhaps for the view of NYC.

Yes I've hiked a little in Oregon and have been to Crater Lake several times but most of my hikes were in Eastern Oregon.
