Greetings from the UK

Post by PeteB » Mon Apr 27, 2020 5:06 pm

I joined the forum initially to answer one question, which was answered very quickly. I’m liking what I see and look forward to remaining a member.

I retired 5 years ago having spent 37 years as an Engineer in the same aerospace company. I’ve been interested in guns for as long as I can remember and bought my first firearm 16 years ago when two of my Air Pistols became prohibited weapons then requiring a Firearms Certificate.

Bought my first Henry, a Henry Big Boy Classic H006M a couple of years ago to replace a Rossi Puma that met with an accident.

Love the Henry Big Boy and now have had a Big Boy Silver H006CS on order since February. :D

Welcome from Nebraska. Glad to hear of your satisfaction and appreciation for the Henry. Let us know when your Silver shows up. Sorry about the wait.

I knew when I ordered the Big Boy Silver in 45LC it would be at least April/May before I was likely to see it. Seems there were none already in country (maybe never had one in the UK before) so its just a waiting game, now compounded of course, by Covid-19. No shooting anyway here in the UK as all ranges are in lockdown until further notice.

Hi Grunt67, Yes we’re still on lockdown and look like we will be for another month or so. My gun club has been closed for 6 weeks now so I’ve not fired a gun for that long! In fact I’ve only been off my property for a couple of hours each week to visit my 86 year old mom who has dementia (my sister cares for her generally).

We shop online most weeks for food and essentials. I’ve been retired 5 years and my wife retired a couple of months back so no work or money worries.

All my firearms are cleaned and prepared for a long period of inactivity. The lockdown has given me the opportunity to accurize my GSG1911 long barrelled pistol and I’m hoping those parts will arrive next week sometime. Luckily our postal service seems largely unaffected.

Stay safe!

Thanks , Pete. The reason I was asking about the lockdown, is,
I returned a Shield red dot pistol sight for warranty. Haven't heard from them since Mar.1. So I guess no one's working.
Stay safe over there, enjoy the boredom with the rest of us, LOL

Things are starting to ease up a bit, although the UK government isn't being very clear about what is and isn't permitted. Outdoor sports like Golf are now allowed but no visit to the club house after!. People are still being encouraged to work from home if possible and if not they must still respect a 2m distance from anyone else. Masks are also being encouraged.

My Gun Club is starting outdoor shooting from June 1st, with the outdoor Airgun range open and the 100 yard range with 22 Rimfire and Gallery Rifle but no Magnum Loads (although this is a noise issue not Covid19). I haven't shot for 8 weeks now!

Who are you dealing with here in the UK? I'd be happy to make some phone calls on your behalf.

The RSMc red dot sight was bought from Shieldsights. They had me return it to Valley Stream, N.Y. I sent Shield 2 emails, no response.Dont have a phone#. Likely they are closed due to
Corona.
The return authorization # is RMA # 402.
