Filling Your Time

Post by BrokenolMarine » Wed Apr 08, 2020 8:35 am

How are you filling your down time? :?

Miss T and I have mostly been working on keeping the house showing ready, and decluttering, and packing. Going room by room, reducing the amount of "stuff" we will haul to the midwest. Whew, you don't realize how much stuff you have until you start considering packing it. ;)

There are things we give away, things we haul to the dump, and the things we keep - but pack.

Yesterday, we pulled EVERYTHING out of the range house, sprayed the building for bugs, then went thru everything as we hauled it back in to sort it. Cardboard attracts wood roaches, so... The need for spraying. Packed all the sorted, cleared targets in wardrobe boxes, sealed tightly with tape, after a light coat inside the box with the bug spray.

Packed the brass tumbler and sorting gear, boxes of target balls. (I collected softballs, baseballs, and golf balls... When I worked midnight patrols... Then used them for targets on the range.)

Basically, the rangehouse is packed.

If the sale falls thru... At least we have decluttered all the rooms.

GLWS, still working most days here.
Partner was feeling under the weather this morn, so I'm home today.
Maybe a little backyard plinking, and probably some reloading later.

The warranty on my Explorer is about to run out and I think I have a bad wheel bearing, so I'm going to drop it off at a dealership today for repair. The Wife will pick me up. They already informed me that the waiting area is closed due to the virus.

Got a lot of yard work done yesterday, but today is cold and windy with some rain forecast. Work in my shop I guess.

Doing a lot of reading. I read a lot anyway.

Yesterday I serviced my mower and put the bagger back on it. Made a run around the lawn and picked up thatch that I had already loosened with a rake. Plan to do a deeper de-thatch today. Spend Monday re-organizing a bit in order to find storage places for the equipment I hauled home from our north property which was broken into this winter. (Deep snow prevented the scumbags coming back to haul the load away  )

The weather is finally getting nice this week so I will be working outside for the next several days.

What I think I'm doing, is saving money!
When we could move about freely, I would run around to the big box stores, such as Wal Mart, Home Depot, Best Buy just to name a few. Would usually do a lot of impulse buying....Ya know, all those things Ya can't live without,☺
Therefore, I feel like I have probably saved a bunch of money. Thank goodness, I haven't needed any TP!

Since I live in MS, I spent about an hour this morning doing a little mental pre-planning for the upcoming hurricane season, in connection to current novel events. Hopefully there won't be any hurricane landfalls, but the possibility exists and a hurricane would certainly complicate things.

Normal at home chores for this time of year.
But a short excursion yesterday. Post office to mail outbound stuff that had piled up. To the bank to deposit checks that had accumulated. To the pharmacy to pick up Rx's.

with both of us having been retired for 13 years, we have plenty of experience spending our time at home and while in our camper .... we take precautions and still manage to take care of things that have to be done .... hauling off our trash, grocery shopping for us and others, picking up meds, having a vehicle serviced, and such .... while at home we take care of our 4 year old soon to be grandson who has far more energy than both of us .... I piddle with things that need some attention in our camper an generally find a way to put off things I don't really want to do (nothing new there)

No bench grinder here, and the side grinder is on the job.

Hasn't been a problem here having things to keep me busy. Downed trees & limbs from storms, plus routine yard work, on & on.

I bought a lee valley spokeshave kit from a friend on my woodworking forum. I contacted lee valley and ordered the instructions and template for cutting out the wooden handle. I plan to laminate curly cherry and cocobola. This should fill some time. The kit came Wednesday, waiting for the paperwork from lee valley.
