That was very entertaining, especially @ the 40 second mark
It was interesting that he didn't have one kick-back, bet he did when he first experimented with his method. An extremely sharp chain would require less effort for certain. Thanks for sharing.

keeping the saw tilted at 90 degrees to the cut would take a considerable amount of practice ....

Yes, it does. When I was younger and in much better condition, I did a little free hand ripping on smaller logs than what they're doing in the video. A ripping chain makes it a little easier to control, but it's still a lot of very strenuous work. And if you're doing this out in the woods, you have to pack in everything - gas, oil, various other tools, food, water (unless you're setting up near some), a gun and ammo, tent, etc. You're gonna be there for awhile if you're building a cabin this way.
