When I was shooting BPCR the only thing a 45-120 did was foul the barrel quicker. Its to big of powder column. I think most guys bought those to just impress people.

Brass for the 90 100 ect. Is expensive

Ya I will not be doing that. I did email a guy tonight for price & availability on a couple of Pedersoli Sharps rifles...local guy near Calgary that is the Pedersoli dealer.

I like the Dixon too. My wife likes the Sporting.

I was thinking the sporting model might be a bit of a compromise between the base model business rifle and the Dixon or Quigley. We'll see what the prices come back like.

There is method to my madness...as soon as I get excited about a Sharps, my High Wall will show up....

Works that way for me when I cant find something I know I have. I finally give up and go buy another one only to have the missing one turn up shortly there after.

Universal powder looks a little scarce right now. May have to try someting else. I have enough until summer but may try Unique or Trail Boss. IMR Red and Target show in the Hogdon list too.

Australian Munitions published a table of powder equivalents that may be useful, including these that they suggest are equivalent:
ADI AP70N; Hodgdon Universal; Alliant Unique; IMR SR 7625; Accurate Arms AA 5; Vihtavuori N330.

[These are] only approximate equivalent values within about 5%. Actual burning rates can vary depending on the calibre, firearm, loading components and practices, as well as from powder lot to lot.

Thks...my local hardware sells IMR just not sure which ones. No rush, I am good for several hundred rounds yet.

You might want to go with Unique. It really favors straight wall PC reloading and meters fairly well.

I hear a lot about Trail Boss but its pretty 'fluffy' and won't meter as well as Unique AND its sold in 9 Oz containers for about the same as Unique in pound size.

Unique is a good Ol' standard powder with a lot of versatility - probably why it's still around since 1898!

Trail Boss favors cast lead, and prolly round sonic speed tops in most.
