My gal covers the door, from cover, while mom or dad gets it. (You know, provides 20 pounds of back up.)

My lab would have opened the door to an intruder if he scratched him. Miss my dog.

Have 2 dogs a Jack Russell and a lab.
Heard someone talking about their new pup last week when asked what breed the answer gave me a good laugh, jack russel terrorist, it is very apt.
Our lab is similar to most in that she will inhale food as soon as it appears but a bit unusual in that she is a fantastic guard dog. Quite a big framed dog and around 90lbs, most can't associate the deep aggressive bark they hear from behind the fence with what they see when they lay eyes on her. A few years back she grabbed one of my sons friends when he stepped into the back yard unannounced. Getting hold of a 15 year old boy by the shoulder and getting him to sit on the ground until we told her to let go. Held him firm enough to leave bruises the next day but never broke the skin. Have watched her kill a young fox that wandered into the yard, the terrier had it bailed in a corner. She walked in grabbed it around the chest and dispatched it with one bite dropped it and walked away. She will pick ripe tomatoes from the garden or pick up eggs from around the yard and drop the at the back door unmarked. Seems to know just how hard to bite for the situation.
