This weekend in our neighborhood the soccer fields were empty since the city banned all youth sports and this morning while we were walking the dog
the large church at end of street was an empty parking lot.
THE YEAR THE EARTH STOOD STILL..... more things will be closing down or very limited access.

We're startin' a near perfect job this week to coincide with all this crap.
As long as we can get our material in the morning.
This next house is out in the country away from all the stupid people.
My daily commute will be pretty much a backroad country drive, 30 mins each way.
Hallelujah!
May have to stop for a little gas once but that's it. ;)

CDC recommends no events of more than 50 people for the next 8 weeks. Some exceptions.

Excerpt:

https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/4 ... ight-weeks

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Sunday called for the cancellation of in-person events of 50 or more people for the next eight weeks to try to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The agency issued new guidance as governors across the country directed bars and restaurants to close down with the exception of carryout or delivery business. Arizona, Ohio and other states have shuttered schools for weeks to try to limit transmission of the virus.

"Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing," the CDC said. "When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual."

The guidance does not apply to large organizations such as schools, universities or businesses, the CDC said, though many of those institutions have implemented telework or online classes. The advisory does not supersede direction from state and local officials.

"This recommendation is made in an attempt to reduce introduction of the virus into new communities and to slow the spread of infection in communities already affected by the virus," the agency said. "This recommendation is not intended to supersede the advice of local public health officials."

Where was all of the media last year? You can see the peak in the trend last year. Where was all of the media hype last year? Oh, that's right, last year was not an election year!

Just got back from doing my normal Monday afternoon weekly shopping at 10PM to avoid the crowds at Fred Myers. Probably only 30 or so shoppers there. Was able to get most of my normal weekly items and stocked up on a few extras like soup, cheese and a roast and some meals to go in the freezer. Had to buy some English muffins and expensive organic bread as regular bread supplies were gone. Produce dept. was pretty well stocked, no potatoes though. No water, pasta, milk, eggs were mostly gone (no problem there, my friend's chickens are laying about a dozen a day), some soup and canned veggies but no beans or chili. Very little cleaning supplies and no bleach and of course no TP but a guy was putting out a pallet of paper towels. Most everything else seemed well stocked, lots of beer, wine and spirits and junk food.

Going to swing by Costco tomorrow and if it doesn't look too crazy try to get some coffee and a few other items.

Haven't heard yet if the bowling alley will still be open but I've pretty much decided to skip the last few weeks of my 3 leagues. If I was young and healthy I would go but between being 67 and having COPD and diabetes I guess I should try to avoid crowds.

It appears to me that people pretty much are like a bunch of high headed crazy cows...if one buggers and runs, the whole herd does too, regardless of the cause. I'm annoyed. It appears chicken little is alive and well. Hopefully sanity will return before the herd charges off over the cliff, but who knows. Yep,....pretty annoying......

Here in the Netherlands, all café's restaurants, schools, churches, sportsclubs, swimmingpools and even our shooting range is closed because of the corona-virus.
Everybody has to stay at home as much as possible and pay no visits to other people.

I hope and pray it will be over soon.

It's looking less and less likely that this will be short term. New report out of the UK says they expect it to last at least till Spring 2021. There have also been other reports/studies/models that have similar conclusions.

Wife is worried about getting the State Inspection on her car which is due every year. Got an appointment at the dealer we bought it from since it's free
inspections but the bug is spreading around our area. Being in the Senior age group and she is diabetic we want to limit exposures right now.
I said just let it ride until this stuff clears up after awhile.

Are people still talking about this? So far, world wide there have been 6,700 deaths. In Canada, +/- 4,000 people die from the regular flu every year. To put that in perspective, in China alone, there would have to have been 188,000 deaths to hit even the per capita ratio for common flu deaths.

States are shutting down bars and restaurants. One State wants old guys to stay home and self quarantine. I have a thought for that state.

About ten years ago I bought six months emergency rations. It is long term storage food for one person and is half rations.

I never actually thought I would ever use it.

Those survival food outlets are getting rich right now. 4 months to get your orders if you order today.
It's not a bad thing to have regardless of flu virus. Anything can happen. Most have 25 yr shelf life if stored properly.

Mine is 25 years if I remember right. I haven’t eaten any yet but I don’t think it will be tasty. Lots of carbs, protein and salt.
