With all due respect, I used to be a die hard NASCAR fan. Then was un-interested when some of the oldies left, ie: Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Jeff Burton etc.
I became somewhat interested again when Danica participated! Thought...this is what a failing following needed. A female who was experienced at OPEN wheel racing. Cannot understand why someone would not support that competition. Is it a sexist thing? Or is there something I missed about her?
What I didn't miss, is that she was tough AND pretty. Sorry she's gone...I am as well.
I got to know her pretty good. And the more I learned about her, the more I didn't like her. Starting from way back in her go-kart days with Sam Hornish. Then there was those poses. "Oh, look at me, look how great I look. You probably want me posted on your bedroom wall", yeah right. She played it out on the Nascar track. Too much like one of those "typical" type girls, she couldn't do no wrong. She would make excuses and blame everyone else for her mistakes. Then she sure had a mouth. Nascar would bleep it out, but it didn't fool me on what she was saying. Did you see the time Dale, Jr bumped into her? He lost his brakes and she keyed the mic and told him what he could do to himself. Got to be that I couldn't stand her anymore and was glad to finally see her gone. Which was another thing. She thought she was going to come over to Nascar and be this big successful star, but reality had different plans.
Thanks for enlightening me CGF. was unaware of those things. Guess that's because I was not watching as closely during that time.
When I WAS following closely, is when I took a great dis-liking to Kurt Busch before he got in Rustys car. He spoke of the great older drivers as " The old has beens "...arrogant punk.
That's about when my interest dwindled. Now I can understand how you feel about Danica, if true.

I didn't like Kurt Busch either in the beginning. He's gotten better, but still sure not a favorite. Now Kyle, the one many hate, has a personality. I also did not like him in the beginning, but he sure has improved through the years and as mentioned a few times before, I credit his wife for a lot of that.

A good example of Kyle is that video of him driving back from Martinsville a few years back. He cared enough for a fan that was riding along side of him to get her attention and offer to sign her hat. He later tracked down who she was and invited her to some pre-race festivities at the next race or two.

He's an intense racer, that does not like to lose, but that's what makes him so successful. Interesting to go from someone not liked to someone really liked. My opinion anyway.

I began not liking Kyle Busch, after the race he won at the Nashville Super Speedway. He won a very nice guitar, and smashed it
against something. Very disrespectful. I'll give him the fact, that he is a good driver, but his attitude sucks.
As for Danica, I think she was rushed thru the Xfinity series into Cup, and didn't get enough seat time to be competitive.
She was a knockout in a bikini tho, LOL

Funny you mentioned Kyle and the Guitar. I was just thinking of that. That "was" Dis-respectful and I "really" did not like that. It made me lose it for him all the more back then. But it was back in his early years when he had that punky attitude. I've never heard him say either way, but hopefully he regrets it.

That was a pretty cool thing he did there.
I remember it.
I have always liked Kyle, I remember when Kurt started and was doing pretty good.
In one interview he said, y'all think I'm a pretty good driver, you should see my little brother.
No matter whether or not you like him, you have to agree the guy can drive a race car.

Guess I'll be watching reruns of old Westerns. Which isn't a bad thing, LOL. Raining here all day, can't get to shoot my new Henry.

Yeah, just got an E-mail from Nascar. No races till hopefully the Martinsville race in May.

We've got a long wait. Hopefully the nation will heal quicker.

I hate it for Kyle Larson but in this day and time he brought it onto himself :

Chip Ganassi Racing driver Kyle Larson has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR following his use of a racial slur on a live stream during an iRacing event Sunday night.

no sleep lost here either .... unless he was in a battle with Shrub, a bunch of other drivers would have to be wrecked and out of a race for me to pull for him .... I just hate to see anyone's promising career be scuttled out of making a single dumb mistake

First I heard of it.

Now, of course, I'm wondering what he said.

Edit:

OK, it didn't take me too long to find out what.

Boy, that was stupid. And doesn't even make sense.

You know, this could be pretty damaging. His career could go out the window, much like Mayfield's did for drugs.

He made a mistake, it didn’t appear to be racially motivated, he apologized and should go to NASCAR’s sensitivity training but to end one’s career is over the top.
