My wife and youngest were talking on the phone the other day and they both agreed that I would be the last person on earth to catch it. :o
As you might guess I don't get sick very often, never have. ;)
My dad was like that ,but
I just figured his was a lot from all the shots he got during the service nearly 16 yrs.

Seattle is having a toilet paper shortage and many other items like gloves and masks are also long gone.

Similar here. Add hand sanitizer and Cold-eeze (zinc) throat Lozenges to the bare shelf list..

I have definitely seen more hand washing and use of sanitizer in and around the kitchen the last few days. We adhere to food safety guidelines which includes no one in the kitchen if they are sick or show signs of being sick. Too much of a liability issue in food service. No one is freaking out but definitely heightened awareness. I am in Dallas and nobody has gotten sick in the metroplex so far.

I just follow normal influenza protection rules. Wash hands, give people personal space, etc.

My wife is starting to get frenzied. Got to get Lysol wipes, extra hand sanitizer, a couple cans of tuna and some chicken broth in case we have to lock ourselves away to protect ourselves from the zombies.

I'm not going to get involved in this thread beyond posting 3 sites that track it on a hourly/daily basis. Here's the sites. They are all legit and non-political. They provide up to the hour, unadulterated facts without any political or media spin.

A major key was discovered yesterday in the virus spread and it wasn't the beer. Avoid it if possible!

We live rural and anytime we shop for groceries we do a large shop of two to three weeks worth of most items. This week we did do a bit of a larger shop but only bought items we buy anyway and will use. Freezer and pantry are a little bit fuller than normal but not to hoarding levels. I did pick up one additional large bag of dog food.

My wife was just reading to me the stats for the regular flu we experience every year and to date there have been 12,000 deaths nationwide.

Get real folks.

Our county reported it's first case of the virus yesterday. Going to have to go stock up on supplies so I can quarantine myself.

I am a little worried because I have two appointments at a VA hospital on Monday. As with all hospitals, it is a great place to get infected with something. Because of under lining health issues, I am at a higher risk of catching just about anything. As with the three VA hospitals I am familiar with, they are ,for the main part, geriatric treatment centers with high traffic. Not conducive to stay healthy for anyone. The only precautions I will do are the same ones I usually take. Sanitizers after contact with any hard surfaces and no physical contact with any non medical staff. And hope. :|

I had an Ultrasound scheduled for this week at the local hospital. I cancelled for this very reason. Not necessarily because of Corona, just peak Flu season in general. The Ultrasound was to be a check up on my DVT in my leg, so not crucial to go right away. Will just keep taking my meds, and go at a safer time.

I think this Corona virus thread needs to go into the adult evening beverage thread. Need all the help we can get to catch the Morning Coffee and weather thread.

I was at the Murfreesboro,TN, VA this AM, & have another appt, on Mon. I asked the doc if they had had any patients come thru with the virus, he said no.
The thing with the VA, as you know, people come there from all over. Some as far away as Chattanooga. The odds go up.
Good luck with your appt. & welcome home Brother. :D
