Thanks for the trip down memory lane, forty. I was in junior high/high school at the time and remember every one of those tunes. Lot of British Invasion stuff in that clip. I was more of a hard rocker, though, in the Chuck Berry/Rolling Stones/CCR mold.

Wow...pictures needed!! Is it a 1966? My brother had a light yellow 66 GTO 4 spd. back in 1968 which is when we listened to those songs on local radio. In 1970 he traded on a new 1970 Hemicuda.
Re: Sounds of the Summer 60's.........
I remember the tunes but wasnt old enough for one of those three deuce cars.

Forty, it's '72 Vette, the intake, carbs, and heads came off of a '66 435 hp 427.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 10:44 amWow...pictures needed!! Is it a 1966? The Muncie 4 speed was trashed, I put a Borg Warner in it's place.
It's just been sitting for quite a few years, the carbs need some work and it needs a new radiator.

My favorite year Corvette.
I usually like the old ones (Chevelles, GTO's, 442's, etc), but with Vettes '68 to '72 and especially the '72.

Re: Sounds of the Summer 60's.........
The paint and interior are in sad shape now.
Which the interior already needed attention.
Always liked those mid 60's, and definitely nothing passed a '72.

'55 to '72 was my favorite era.
'73 started to drop off, not just with the cars themselves, but the engines too.

Had a friend that owned one of that year and that color! Now you have something to work with that 454! Easy to make a nice streetable 500-600 HP with that!

Re: Sounds of the Summer 60's.........
Forty a buddy and I built the motor some years back.
The block was punched .040 over, got flat top piston.
Don't remember all the specs of the cam, it's solid lifter.
We polished the intake and exhaust ports on those heads.
It's pretty BAd A$$, she'll set back in the seat right well.

You see my folks house was on a nice straight stretch of road in the neighborhood and the area was full of hot cars of the time.
A neighbor of ours had just bought a new red 1965 GTO convert. with the tri-power setup and of course we hung with his sons which
had their drivers licenses too. We had just come back from a beach trip and I had sunburn on my back.
The guys stop by with the hot Goat and my brother and I pile in back with top down. When those 3 2bbl.carbs kicked in I would get hammered in the
back of seat and didn't know whether to cry or laugh!! Great times back then! That GTO turned my brother and I into gearheads forever!!
Thanks for sharing that song CT!
