Re: Who remembers these guys
The British influence on 60's pop music was amazing. The Dave Clark Five are in my playlist along with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, The Yardbirds, The Who, and The Moody Blues. I own most everything in their catalogs; but I like the Beatles most of all.

Re: Who remembers these guys
I remember the Dave Clark Five, I hated them then, and unlike fine wine they do not appear to have improved any with time.I much preferred the folky ballad stuff like 30,000 Pounds of Bananas:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Uz_TQbWubs
And of course Alice's Restaurant:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPx2t7xoF1k
And anything by a younger Jimmy Buffet, before he lost his voice and got weird.
EDIT: Woohoo! "The Load Out/ Stay": ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk7mFRWt-sY
Someone on that page commented: "I have talked to people who were at THIS, the original recording, half the crowd had left, the roadies were actually packing equipment, none of them knew this song had been written. When the song started playing, people kinda started milling back in, the road crew were almost in tears from being recognized. The crowd you hear clapping were clapping for the roadies."

Re: Who remembers these guys
I'll listen[and do] to any of these groups as opposed the garbage that's out there now. Yesteryear's music was incredible, nowadays, not so much.CT_Shooter wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 12:18 pmThe British influence on 60's pop music was amazing. Hey John E
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
excpect'n Alice.
There is a radio station in Memphis that used to play it every Thanksgiving around noon.
Don't forget about the Group W bench.

Re: Who remembers these guys
Good band, the Beatles produced lots of knock offs for sure. Due to their massive success, the Beatles had the opportunity to evolve & experiment with their music, not sure some of these other guys had that chance. Great tune though, Singer Mike Smith could really belt one out.

Really enjoyed that, thanks for the reminder. Have to put them on my play lists. So many great tunes from that era.
