I'm vasslelating between a 86g MBC over 10 grains of H4198 for 1440 average fps or the same bullet ovet 3.5g of Trail Boss for 1100 average fps.
Both shoot well and can knock all the targets down.
Trying similar speeds with the 220g 35rem.

Never tried the H in my 35's, but have had good results with IMR 4198 and the 200, and 205 gr cast.

I've used both, but it was in the T-4's.
Made for some accurate shooting and a couple of seriously thumper loads.

The only rifles that I load in the high speed arena are my 223 and 243.
Those are strictly benchrest shooters for me.
Varget and now imr4350 are my goto for the high power rifles.
Everything else is shot off hand so I try and keep away from thumper loads.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
My only rifle that sees high speed is the 308mx, but that's where I find it is most accurate and consistent.
The 444 I was just foolin around with and don't load it hot.
Even my 223 rounds I used to load were no where near max.

Re: What did you do at your reloading bench today?
i started loading more of the Hornaday FTX. I intended to load 5 ea , 9.5, 9.9, and 10.3 gn of AA#5. i loaded the 5 with 9.1 gn. i needed to add powder to the trickler for the next 5. while adding powder i overfilled the trickler and then when trying to correct that mistake i spilled more powder. that was when i decided i was to distracted to continue and put everything away. i think ill wait until after my dr appointment on Wednesday.

Was looking at that full 5 lb. coffee can of .45 Colt brass today and then my slim amount of .45 boolits. Time to place another MB order!

That's a healthy one! Did you ever try 8.5 of Unique with same bullet in your rifle?
I don't think I have ever run my 1873 Ubert rifle over the chrony with any load. Need to do that! But it sure shoots well with it!

forty, look at their 230gr RN coated. Splendid bullet for our .45acp's. Think you may like 'em.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2020 10:32 pmWas looking at that full 5 lb. coffee can of .45 Colt brass today and then my slim amount of .45 boolits. Time to place another MB order!

No sir, I haven't, I'll load a dozen and give 'em a try.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Tue Feb 11, 2020 10:33 amThat's a healthy one! Did you ever try 8.5 of Unique with same bullet in your rifle?

When I first got the rifle I ran some light loads that I had loaded for the Vaquero.
But with the generous chamber of the Marlin I was getting a blow back in my face.
So I am careful not to run them real light.
I'll give that load a try though, I did try some at 9.0, but accuracy was better with the 9.5.
