Surgery on Monday
I found out a couple months ago that I have prostate cancer. The surgery to get rid of it is scheduled for Monday February 3rd. It hadn't really hit me until yesterday when I went for the pre-op appointment.

Re: Surgery on Monday
Apparently this cancer is slow growing and not agressive. The Dr told me if I was 10 years older he would suggest leaving it and keeping an eye out for trouble. He said something else would get me before the cancer.
Re: Surgery on Monday
Always great to start out with an edge on this stuff. Your doc sounds positive on good results.
Praying for a quick recovery and return to best of health!

Re: Surgery on Monday
Relax, the new methods and drugs make surgery a lot simpler. I had an aortic aneurysm repaired last summer and spent only one night in the hospital. Went home the next day and was up and doing my stuff in a couple more days. Very little pain.
It's simply amazing what they can do with most cancers these days. I have two cousins with cancer right now and they are on chemo for life which amounts to taking a pill with little side effect. They expect normal life spans.
Had a rupture fixed twenty years ago and that was not pleasant, but even that is much simpler now. BTW, had a vasectomy done at the same time. Now I am a Golden Gelding guaranteed Community Safe.

Good luck with the surgery. Millions of men have had it. I had surgery in October of 2003 and have been cancer free.

Re: Surgery on Monday
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. My dad had to have his removed and it took some time for him to get "back to normal". That was back in the late 60's and I'm sure the procedure has improved immensely since then.

It's going to be a hungry day. One day before my surgery and I can only have jello broth and juice or water.

Re: Surgery on Monday
Well, look at it this way, if it were going to be a Colonoscopy you'd be drinking that terrible nectar and spending your day you know where.
There's always an upside.
Hang in there my friend. It will be over soon.
