Loads for .357 Mag with MB 158 gr. bullet?
From looking at my manuals 13-13.5 of Alliant 2400 looks to be a good mid-point to start with.

I don't have any tables for lead .... for Nosler's 158 gr JHP's with 2400, out of an 8.3" barrel
starting load 11.3 g ... muzzle velocity 1480 fps
maximum load 12.3 .... muzzle velocity 1520 fps
just curious, at what muzzle velocity would there be a pretty good chance of a lead buildup in the barrel

12.5gr-13.0gr is a good load for MB coated[or plain]. I prefer 12.5 of 2400. This works well in my Henry.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 3:45 pmFrom looking at my manuals 13-13.5 of Alliant 2400 looks to be a good mid-point to start with.
Mild as you'd expect and accurate. Std primer.

I have read where using coated lead bullets in rifle 30-06 speeds up to 2600 FPS no problems.JEBar wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 6:53 pmI don't have any tables for lead .... for Nosler's 158 gr JHP's with 2400, out of an 8.3" barrel

According to my 49th Lyman linotype lead 150-160 gr. bullets range from 10.5-15 gr. of Alliant 2400. and in the 1100-1500 fps for handgun loads.
This is just a general load spread and yes in longer rifle barrel 12-13.5 gr. might be a sweet spot depending on bullet.
