Like the rest of the world, I'm watching in horror as the crisis grows larger each day.

The sheer relentlessness of the fires — which have burned more than 15 million acres, killed at least 24 people and destroyed about 2,000 homes — is increasingly pushing Australia beyond crisis mode into a jumble of contemplation, anger and traumatized fatigue.

Still doing OK, had a massive thunderstorm last night, biblical rain for a hour so am dreading what I will find today at the farm. With the area effected stretching over 100 miles locally I am sure there will be areas that missed out on rain all together. Not sure it will have been enough to put out the main front but will certainly have blacked out areas that were still smoldering. We still had logs and trees smoldering at the farm on friday, 2 weeks after the fire front passed through.
Generosity of others has been amazing, we have been receiving nearly a ton of hay a day since the fires to keep cattle and sheep going. Hopefully make a start on some fencing today with the help of BlazeAid a volunteer organisation that helps with fencing, we have about 5 miles that needs reparing or replacing.
Got away for the weekend and went and visited friends 300 miles away, once we were 10miles from home we didnt see and burnt ground in over 600miles of driving. While massive areas of Aus have been burnt it has very much been limited to the deviding range and east coast.

Another thunderstorm Monday brought flash flooding to some areas, we missed the heaviest of it but still put a stop to the fencing we were trying to repair.
Almost 2" in the 2 storms but still patches that are smouldering 15 days after the fire hit.
We have had 5 BlazeAid volunteers helping with fencing the past 2 days, 2 locals we know a gentleman from a town 70 miles away and 2 Austrian tourists travelling the country.
BlazeAid currently have a camp set up here in town with around 80 volunteers. Fantastic organisation with 100% of donations going to those in need, they have almost 20 camps set up around the country in fire effected areas and it is all done with only one payed employee. Even the one paid employee isn't paid from donation money but tax credits they receive due to their charity status.

Just sent those Blazeaid fellas some sun screen and bug spray 220 Hope all goes well with getting the fences fixed. Like in the post above Blazeaid has a wishlist posted on Amazon.

Great to hear your home and buildings survived 220! One of my best friends lives up in Noosa and the fires up there burned right up to his drive, but his house survived too. My friends in Jindabyne fared ok too. It’s a shame how many haven’t been as lucky.
