Although this poem was written describing a different part of the world other than Alberta, it seems to have captured the essence of the intense cold, chilling wind, and the pale light off deep snow seen in RR's photo. This is the first stanza of Rosseti's verse.

From an appreciative viewer of winter scenes, thanks for your post.

"In the bleak midwinter"
by Christina Rossetti

Published in the January 1872 issue of Scribner's Monthly and
now housed in the Public Domain.

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Totally agree Al! I cannot stand winter anymore. I used to snow ski when I was in my 20's. I even endured 20 years in Chicago......brutal!
I would have no problem decorating a palm tree at Christmas now though. :D
