Say hi to Bob the Cat

Post by Sir Henry » Wed Jan 15, 2020 12:35 pm

This bobcat has been spotted several times in the neighborhood. I took the picture about five minutes ago.

I saw a bobcat on my property once many years ago, never saw him again. My neighbor has seen a cougar in his yard a couple of times.

It was neat seeing the bobcat fairly close up, don't think I'd want to see a cougar that close even though they say cougar attacks on humans are fairly rare.

Hard to tell size and detail but, is it possibly a nursing female?

I don’t think so at this time of year. Must be a male.

Hey Bob.
Remember, it's not how many guns you have. It's how many bullets you have.

I’ve seen a few bobcats and lynx over the years, and that’s a good sized one from taking the tire tracks as a scale. I’ve never seen a cougar up close before (other than in a nightclub in my early 20s)’ but we’ve found their scat on our property, and my neighbor across the street had that one sleeping under their trees. Apparently my sister has one (cougar) that sits on the roof of her house to watch deer meander up the gully that is part of her back yard.

The Aussies call cougars “mutton dressed up as lamb”. Heard that one night in Kings Cross in Sidney back in the 90s. Just about peed myself laughing!

These were taken a week ago. One little kitty on the left and two Bob Cats on the right.
I saw there tracks down the drive yesterday as well.
