Trip to LGS yesterday

Post by bandit1250 » Thu Jun 23, 2016 6:09 am

The wife had a dentist appointment yesterday so I made a quick trip to the LGS to see what had came in used. Never know what old 22 may show up. Nothing really new except a couple shot guns. Ammo supply looked good except 22 Magnum. I don't need much in the ammo line right now. I picked up some things there another shop local to me needed and gets it from this place. I stopped and dropped it off on the way home and looked around a little but he don't sell used so that didn't take long. When I was ready to leave he said "You can have that cleaning kit on the counter if you want it." A guy bought it and said the handle was cracked and brought it back. It will be an easy fix with a little Acra-glas and will make a nice kit to keep behind my truck seat in case I need one to punch out a stuck casing or other reason to need a rod. It may come in handy one of these days.

The price was sure right. It looks like a nice basic kit too. Nice.

I'm always on the look out for a nice .22LR shooter myself.

Nice cleaning kit! Enjoy using it.

My cleaning kit was one that I put together for myself in the late 90's. I got a nice fishing tackle box and set it all up.

(My late husband put his gun cleaning items in a small plastic container for his 22lr and 357Magnum firearms. He chose to own only 2 firearm calibers and he only owned a few guns in his life 'on purpose'. He encouraged my gun buying and high volume shooting though!)

I still use my cleaning kit but only for 22lr since I don't have all of those other firearm calibers.

I still kept the other cleaning items for those former calibers that I used to own in the fishing tackle box and I gave it to my MT husband. He has his own kit too.

Freebies sure are nice. I stopped in an lgs one day, and the owner gave me about $100 worth of .40 cal. ammo.

This cleaning kit will see very little use but will be in my truck for trips to the range and hunting trips. I am going to screw the sections together and check to see if there is any joints that need to be smoothed out as to not have any sharp edges. I don't like jointed rods especially if they don't go together with no high joints. It has a rod sized for 22's and the other is for the 17's and 20 cal. If nothing else I will use the accessories from it with my other rods and use the box for S&W 637 Air Weight 38 Special which I hate to admit is probably 4 years old and never has been fired. I know "shame on me."
