Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
awoke to a warm temp with a heavy cloud cover .... decided to take down and store our flag until the storm due to roll in overnight gets out of our area .... in previous year's Texas trip threads I've noted that there is mobile tech we trust and depend on who comes to our campground .... over the years he's handled a range of major replacements/repairs; as well as, minor adjustments .... he's scheduled to come by Monday morning and take care of a few things that I'm no longer able to handle .... for us, its comforting to have such capable resource ... no trips out of the campground slated for today .... do have some blades that need sharpening, plan to take care of them after the rain sets in

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
Seems to me they have a small area for steel pistol shooting but not for rifle. My range doesn't offer steel for rifle but there is one shooter that "brings his own" out from time to time. Takes him forever to set them up during cease fire and very annoying to other shooters.

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
Thanks Jake Im checking for future trips to Texas. Im not much of a paper guy. I kind of like those reactive targets like 2 litres and pop cans.Shakey Jake wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2020 11:10 amSeems to me they have a small area for steel pistol shooting but not for rifle. Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
most certainly .... here is a link to find an "Amazon Hub Locker" ====> https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/account/a ... archStores .... the one we chose is a GNC Store that is located 3.7 miles from where we are camped .... we were told by the folks camped next to us that we would receive an email from GNS saying our package is there .... we need to take a solid ID and probably a copy of that email .... our package is supposed to get there tomorrow (Saturday) .... no clue if it will get there in time to pick it up or if we will need to wait until Sunday

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
the much ballyhooed storm we've been expecting for several days is rolling through where we are camped north of Houston as this is being typed .... right now our camper is in the middle of the thick red band showing on the weather radar .... lost satellite TV a few minutes ago, Verizon MIFI working well ....
Re: 2020 Trip to Texas

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
it was a storm with a few "interesting" moments .... we were told that this morning would dawn clear and cool .... they got the cool part right (over 20 degrees cooler than yesterday) but is far from clear .... looking out I can see some evidence of wind (cooler top in the road, collapsed chairs, patio carpets piled up) but nothing serious .... some puddles but no serious amount of standing water ..... last year we rode out Hurricane Michael in our camper .... its rain and wind lasted more than a day .... the worst of last night's storm was reported to be traveling at 50 mph hammered our are for a few minutes .... the rain came in a couple of intense, but brief, downpours .... wind gust were noticeable .... I wouldn't hesitate to place a bet that with the intensity of the rain and wind, some campers leaked

Looks like a sausage and eggs morning with some hot coffee. Only 12 here in Colorado. I think its going to be a reloading day.

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
as I sit here looking out at a cool but beautiful morning in Texas, I couldn't help but look at the weather in South Dakota where we spend the summer .... its currently 8 degrees (Real Feel -8) on its way to a high of 19 later today .... I have a long standing and ever growing respect for family and other folks who don't just handle, they thrive living in such conditions .... with a visit to the shooting range at Blackwood Gun Club slated for tomorrow, a short trip to Conroe on tap for us today ...main stop will be at Walmart for targets and some other shooting supplies
Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
Well I hope you dont get rained on tomorrow. I just checked the weather for where you are and it looks like its supposed to rain.

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
yep, a 40% chance .... however, they do add the comment, "Considerable cloudiness. Occasional rain showers in the afternoon." .... we plan to shoot around 10AM .... hopefully we will be able do so ... if not, we will reschedule

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
my oooooops on shooting tomorrow ..
.. we plan to go a week from tomorrow on Monday the 20th .... its kind of nice to be parked across from a truck that isn't a big brother but most certainly is of some distant kin to our ours .... its setup to haul a small car between the cab and the hitch .... this morning we drove down to Lowe's and Walmart in Conroe to pickup a few items .... most important items to me were some water filters and a can of Pb Blaster Penetrating Oil .... we have an excellent mobile RV repair fellow due to come by around 9AM to take care of a few issues that I simply can't handle any more .... on the plus side, warmer temps projected for each of the next 5 days ..
.. on the minus side, rain in the forecast for each of the next 5 days ..

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
the weather finally cooperated and we've finished our campsite setup .... first time we've ever positioned our outside cooking area beside a site's picnic table .... doing so was necessitated by the slope of the site .... possible grocery run on tap for later today, we want to pick up a few items to get our grill in action

Re: 2020 Trip to Texas
It rained most of the day here in Sugar Land. It just cleared up about 30 min ago. Hopefully it'll dry out with some sunny days ahead.
