Two years ago I had wall to wall carpet torn up in the family room, back hall and master bedroom. Then a few months ago I opened a wall between the family room and the master bedroom and added a double door. When I opened the wall I noticed the floors matched up almost perfect so instead of having a cross board added I am having them laced together.

The two extra bedrooms are having new hardwood floors also and they will be laced in.

The two walk-in closets in the master bathroom will be hardwood.

The bathroom had carpet in it which will be replaced with heated tile. But that will be in about three months.

Looking good. After my Fantasia incident a couple years ago, I spent most of the following year in my wheelchair, and still use it in the house on my worst days. Our carpet was old, and needed replaced, we went hardwood, and never regret it, unless I get up barefoot at 4am to go to the bathroom. That's a wake up call.

Don't really have to wait for him to install it, I can tell you right now that he will love it. I've installed it in a few different houses I've worked on and its sweet. I wish I would have put heat mats under the tile in my house when I remodeled it 10 years ago...warm floors are the best, especially here in MN...well anywhere it gets cold.

Those floors are looking great! Always a nice surprise to find old hardwood under carpet.

I've had heated tile in a master bath, and it's great. Well worth the wait, time and money!

It still needs to be sanded and stained but it is really looking great. I watched him do one piece and it took him forever. He could have put down twenty other pieces in the same time.

The wood is all down and sanded and ready for the first coat of finish. All coats should be down by Monday and then it’s just a matter of waiting for the acidic fumes to dissipate.

Looks nice.

Before I retired I refinished the hardwood gym floor every Summer at the school I worked at. Didn't sand it down to bare wood but wet screened it with a rotary scrubber, rinsed it very well and then put down a coat of varnish, next day would rough it up with a pad, tack it several times, and put down the final coat of varnish. Took about 15 gallons of urethane varnish per coat so you can imagine how long it took for the smell to go away. Big job, took the most part of a full week. Don't miss doing it but it was nice to see how shiny and beautiful it looked after all that work.

The floors are complete!

This is how they laced the two rooms together. It is amazing that the two rooms aligned perfectly. They were done with a wall in place. When I knocked the wall out I was surprised.

Looks like you had a very good installer. That makes all the difference. The guys that did the gym floor at my school were good, they put a volleyball standard holder in the wrong location and the guy that removed it and patched it did such a good job that you couldn't see where it was patched, if you got down on your knees and looked very closely you could just barely see where he had to surface nail the last board in. Saw the floors that were put in at a later date at a couple other schools by a different company and they looked terrible compared to mine. The school district should never have accepted them.
