Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice
This documentary was produced by CNN Films and aired on CNN last night. It is a brilliant tribute to a talented singer and a remarkable woman. Happily, I recorded it. It will be shown again on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 9:00pm ET, and Sunday, Jan. 5 at 12:00am ET, on CNN. I highly recommend it.

I have a number of her albums. She had a voice of an angel. Saw her once with Jackson Browne at a small venue in Fullerton, CA. - my hometown and where Jackson Browne grew up. Too bad per hateful politics don't match the beauty of her voice.

Sadness is...
"~her singing voice stilled by illness [Parkinson's Disease]."
Will watch and listen with some tears....my favorite song she sang is "When You Wish Upon A Star."
What a pure voice!

How ironic!Fullerton, CA. - my hometown and where Jackson Browne grew up.
My hometown as well! Grew up off Harbor & Orangethorpe.
And a fan of both Linda Rondstadt and Jackson Browne as well.
One of my all time favorite songs is LRs version of 'Carmelita' originally written by Warren Zevon who was a good friend of Jackson Browne. He (Browne) backed him up on vocals on a recording of the song once but LRs is the best version.
Re: Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice
My best memory of her music was when she was with the Stoned Pony's and she sang the song ' You and I march to the beat of different Drummer" A girl I was dating told me to listen to it, gave me a kiss and left. Her name was Kris. I wasn't to heartbroken and I always thought it was a pretty gentle way to breakup. We remained friends.

I had it on my DVR and started to watch it fairly late last night, just thinking I'd watch the first half before turning in, but I couldn't stop watching it. Some fantastic commentary from her band-mates, colleagues and mentors. Just a fantastic profile of an artist who did it her way. It will stay on my DVR for along time to come. Make sure to watch it until the end - the final scene is really something.

She sure has been in the news lately and around the net, but not in a good way.
That's about all I can say here.
That said, I liked her music, but not her recently revealed views.

Homie! I grew up on Gilbert between Valencia and Orangethorpe. Went to Buena Park HS Class of '77. Jackson Browne Went to Sunny Hills IIRC.Mistered wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 2:08 pmHow ironic!Fullerton, CA. - my hometown and where Jackson Browne grew up.

Started out on Knepp, then moved up near Troy High (can''t remember the street name) but that didn't last long and we moved back to the 'old' neighborhood a couple streets over to Hill Ave.I grew up on Gilbert between Valencia and Orangethorpe.
I went to Fullerton HS, class of 76, and moved to Oregon about two weeks after graduating.
Yep, that is correct on Jackson Browne going to Sunny Hills.

Hey All,
I agree leave the politics out.
I'm a big fan of Linda and think her voice one of the best of all-time.
I've only heard one cover of one of her songs that I think is about as good as her version.

Re: Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice
I love Linda's vocal range and versatility, so there's really no comparison; but thanks for introducing me to Terri Clark. She covered this song like it was her own.

Yes she did.Terri Clark. She covered this song like it was her own.
Another excellent cover of a classic is Pink's version of 'Me & Bobby McGee' The guitarist misses a change but its still great!

Re: Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice
Politics benched, forgetting her fling with Moon Beam Jerry Brown and her personal beliefs, she was one of the icons of the 70's. Loved her voice and music, including one of her later recordings Canciones de mi Padre (Songs of my Father) going back to her roots where she was born in Tucson (my home town) in 46.
