Side Gate is great but looking for more Pistol Grip stocks and of course longer barrels.

It’s funny how things change depending on where you live and hunt. I’m always looking for shorter barrels and my preference is for the straight stocks. I probably wouldn’t get rid of either of my current Henrys, but if my next one offered side gate as well as tube, I’d consider it a good thing. .44 mag in a CCH Carbine would be my next choice. I might look at .45 Colt too.

Just wondering specifically which model you are referring to in the aforementioned?

I know it's a henry I don't need it plastered on the forearm.
Just some regular checkering or none at all.
I like things simpler.

I like the short barrels for woods hunting, like long octagon barrels for plinking and long range and off hand shooting, and they just look sexy.
The stocks should be smooth or with just enough to give a little extra grip.
All that other crap just does nothing for me.
Should be an option not a only that or nothing.
I'm sure there's a up chrage for it so I choose not to have one.
Just my opinion, and we all know what they say about those.

You might want to seriously consider keeping your eye out for a commemorative Winchester with a 24 - 26" barrel.

While the commemoratives have there share of condemnation many can be had at very attractive prices and some of them are relatively plain, are not overbearing, are unobtrusive and the fit and finish on most of them is pretty nice.

The upside is being a Winchester there are TONS of parts available and they can be reconfigured very easily if you want. Also they are very easy to work on if necessary to improve the action.

I almost bid on a gorgeous 'Oliver Winchester' commemorative stock to give my 100 year comem a 'facelift' but forgot about it and missed the deadline!

Yes some of the Winchester comems were made in .38-55.

Ironically the Oliver WInchester comem (as in the stock I was going to bid on) IS chambered in .38-55.

Providing it's a caliber you want will you:

FInally buy one if you do NOT currently own one?

If you currently own one will you buy an additional side loader and sell or keep your existing tube feed model?

My question also applies to the rifle calibers as well.

Personally I think one would loose to much selling your current Henry to buy the same caliber just to get the side loader. Just guessing probably a third of the original purchase price.
Besides I don't mind the tube load feature, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them in the first place.
And the few that i have let go to buy something else I later wish I had kept and just saved more and bought the next one a little later.

Nothing at all - I have multiples in the same caliber!

Heck I am planning on adding .30-30 #4 if I can find the one I want - but will probably sell one to 'offset' the cost.

I may also add .357 #2 if I can find what I want and in this case it will be a JM Marlin - preferably with no safety.

Since I don't own a .38/357 rifle I would buy a Henry side loader in that caliber. I have accumulated a good bunch of .38 Special brass and have a
batch of .357 and reload for it for my 2 revolvers it would work well for me.
Had looked at the Rossi R92 but I hear that they only offer a 1 year warranty now on their rifles. Henry made much better and great customer service.

I have the Henry in .357 in the brass receiver. I love it and it shoots great, although it is heavy.

Ditto! And accurate. No complaints here.
