I sent an inquiry to Ruger abt a new cylinder in .45 acp. They responded that I can get one factory fit to the gun. Will cost aprox $175. I hope to get one but will have to wait for a while.

I have one in 44 mag. that I bought in the 70's. Heavy but very accurate. I had to change the grips. The stock ones just did not fit my hand. Enjoy.

I have heard that the 9mm conversion was not as accurate as the 357. Probably due to difference in bore size.

I see you are from Wisconsin. Anywhere near Elkhorn?? Am interested in The Beast From Bray Road. Sounds like something I would like to check out.

Nope. That's way to the south in the tropical part of the state. I'm way north, just a bit north of Rhinelander. We have our own demon of the woods, up here, the ferocious Hodag. it would eat that Beast for a snack. :)

The native Ojibwe, up here, have their own evil spirit of the woods in the windigo. When you hear the windigo calling your name, get your affairs in order. Your days are numbered.

I bought a Bisley that came with one. The ACP cylinder is fun to shoot in that gun. Its also very accurate especially with some of the 200 gr swc bullets. No recoil at all

.
Check VTI gun parts. I bought a .45 ACP cylinder for my Uberti for about $120. Timing and alignment were good right out of the box. Only needed to shave down the bushing a bit. VTI has great persoanlized customer service too!

I'll definitely check into that. Thanks!

Edit: I checked their website and they don't list Ruger parts.

Might drop them an email and see if one of the cylinders they have for the brands they list would still fit a Ruger. mail@vtigunparts.com
They were fast and helpful at responding to my questions.

Yesterday I sent an inquiry to VTI. They responded today.
No sorry we discontinued the Ruger parts a while ago. They never did allow us to sell cylinders, as they want the installed at the factory only.

Thank you,

Might check on Ebay routinely for a .45 ACP cylinder.

There is currently one listed and they must be pretty popular as there are several bidders.

WIth regard to fitting I have known a couple people who have bought used cylinders for their BHs and they fit and shot fine. I have also read similar reports on other forums .

Rugers are built to pretty tight tolerances and dimensions of parts are no doubt essentially the same with variances of probably no more than a thou or two between any of them.

I wouldn't have a problem buying a used cylinder for the right price and condition and expecting nearly 'drop in' fit and function.

I'm watching the cylinder on evilbay right now. Want to see what a used one sells for. Might just be worth sending it back to the factory if I include getting it re-blued.

If the cylinder on Ebay goes for much more than what it is at now then the factory is probably the better option.

I wouldn't consider paying more than maybe 50-60 % used of what the factory is quoting for a new and fitted cylinder.

I was thinking the same thing. There are .357 cylinders listed at over $100 used. That's too high in my opinion.

That cylinder has been bid up to $95.00 + $5.40 shipping with 3 hours left. Too rich for my blood.
