at 36 degrees with a clear blue sky, today is off to a pretty cool start .... they are calling for a high of 63 with only a 10% chance of rain in central NC .... more Folgers coffee in a Purtis Creek State Park (Texas) mug .... glad to know I'm not the last one who still drinks coffee .... guess I am one of the very few who haven't ever purchased a coffee at Starbucks or any other such place ...

Morning folks! Yesterday[Christmas] was cool and blustery, with a small, spotty rain. This morning, WINDY and sideways rain!
. So. drinking coffee, Costco Dark Roast blend and John Wayne movies today! Then later, beer time! Tomorrow starts some pretty good bowl games, if I don't go shooting.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
We did a Military Funeral this morning. We were way out in the country at an old country grave yard. It was cold and we stood in 5 inches of snow waiting for the hearse. The deceased was 92 years old and a WWII Veteran. We had a rifle squad, honor guard, and two regular Army sergeants to fold the flag. The bugle playing was perfect. Did I mention it was cold?
Came home to a hot cup of coffee in my VFW mug.
Did I mention it was cold? 25 degrees and a west wind.
Our bugle player gets congratulated for his playing of taps every time, but he can't read a word of music, or play for that matter.
We have an electronic bugle and all he does is hold to his lips and press start. Perfect every time.
Seriously, the families often cry when we do that ceremony. It is touching, and the fact we will do it in rain or snow always impresses them.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Icy rain this AM and right at the freeze line. Supposed to rain for two days and then turn to snow. Yuck!
I for one would rather have the snow. I can plow that, I can't plow the ice. Our drive is about a half
mile long through the woods and every year we have to hire someone to sand it once or twice.
The Twin Cities are a mess of jack knifed semis and auto wrecks. Rush hour is not rushing.
Oh well, I am retired and we don't have to go anyplace anyway. Hunker down and let it pass.

Re: Our Morning Coffee and Weather
Most of the weather was North and east of us the last two days .
Going to Public Shoot Day today. Depending on the condition of the range.
It's North and about 4000 ft higher with alot (for here) of snow, so the roads are clear but we will see about the range.
