Re: New RCBS Single Stage Reloading Press
as noted, I've been batting this idea around for a good while and I already have a Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Reloading Stand ===> https://www.amazon.com/Frankford-Arsena ... 170&sr=8-1 ..... not a bad table but for my purposes, its useless .... it now sits in a spare bedroom with stuff pliled up on it .... in sitting here thinking about it, about the only thing that comes to mind is yard sale .... I don't want to make that type of mistake again
Re: New RCBS Single Stage Reloading Press
IF one were reloading easy to size cases IE pistol ammo it MIGHT be satisfactory but when it comes to resizing rifle cases I see this thing flexing, moving around etc.I can't help but wonder how sturdy it will be
I can only imagine the expletives coming out of someones mouth if the plastic base were to break during a sizing operation.
Lee has a tripod style portable press stand and that would probably work better but the bottom line is a press needs to be securely mounted with little to no movement.

That Lee tripod you mentioned, I believe that is what RR uses. Seems to work fine. Maybe RR will post a picture of it.Mistered wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 1:13 pmIF one were reloading easy to size cases IE pistol ammo it MIGHT be satisfactory but when it comes to resizing rifle cases I see this thing flexing, moving around etc.I can't help but wonder how sturdy it will be

Re: New RCBS Single Stage Reloading Press
that is but one of the complicating factors .... the majority (make that vast majority) of the rounds I foresee loading anytime soon will be 44 Mags and those I anticipate loading in the thousands .... at the same time I have no doubt that some 300 WBY Mags will be in the mix .... to put it mildly, they require a great deal more force to resize ....
other complicators include the anticipated use may be to only produce a single round or untold hundreds at a given sitting .... the setup needs to be quick and simple, yet solid .... the components need to all fit into a compact storage area .... my hope is to work things out over then next three months while we are traveling and put it together next spring .... continued comments are most welcome
Re: New RCBS Single Stage Reloading Press
I'm thinkin' a shorter version of the receiver hitch mount at the height of your favorite camp chair would be your best bet!the components need to all fit into a compact storage area
Heck I may throw one of these together, paint it RCBS green and post it on some gun forums to see if there is any interest and if so maybe make a few for some 'mad money' !

Re: New RCBS Single Stage Reloading Press
I really like the concept .... do agree with it being shorter, I'd want to be able to use it while seated in a camping chair .... a loose fit between the receiver and the shaft inserted will introduce play that may or may not prove to be worrisome .... the longer the upward shaft, the more noticeable the play will be .... I would also want the plate to be removable and designed to accommodate a powder measure as well ....
thanks for posting the picture, its planted a bunch of seeds ....
