morning at the range

Post by Shakey Jake » Thu Dec 12, 2019 2:12 pm

A little background: Last Thursday I took out my .223 Ruger American All Weather rifle. I had purchased some Armscor .223 from surplus ammo and to my astonishment none of the rounds would load. Evidently that's why they were cheap because they didn't meet SAAMI specs. Had to trash them all. I did shoot some .243 with the Remington ADL (carboard target) at 100 yards but went home disappointed that I didnt' get to shoot the .223

I decided to go shoot today and had a yen to shoot my Marlin .22WMR 783 model with 2X7 Redfield scope. I had purchased some Armscor .22WMR ammo at the same time so thought I'd see if it would shoot and it did. It was not as good as the CCI or Fiocchi that I usually shoot but it did okay. The range was 50 yards. I shot at a "carnival target" and then the other paper target.

As a side note I went to the retina specialist yesterday and got some disturbing news. My left eye is responding well to the injections but there has been no improvement in my right eye. The doctor changed the drug he's using but stated that it may never improve and all we could hope for was that it wouldn't get worse. I guess I'll be on these injections for the remainder of my time on this earth.

Thanks for the report, Shakey. Good shooting. I'd be more than happy with those targets.

It's sad news about your right eye, though. Let's hope it responds to the alternate medication.

bought some of that armscor 22 mag ammo also Jake. Its not very accurate but its okay for plinkin. To bad about the 223 ammo. Hope your eyes get better and I agree with Jim I thin your shooting is good considering the eyes.

Good shooting IMO John. Who knows, your treatment might work better than expected for your eye. My 87 year old Mom gets shots in her eye and is doing well. Stable anyway, with little to no deterioration.
God bless, and keep shooting with great results! 😊
