Windy at times today, had to pick my moments. Temperature 28F. Cold hands and my trigger finger missing the first joint has no circulation at all in cold weather. Cowboy up...

50 yard work with my Henry 1860 in 45 Colt. Shooting 50 rounds of 200 gr 6.6 gn of Universal. Open sights, shooting from 1 knee.

It's still a punchy little round but I was a little worried about the bullets wandering around with the wind but as I said, pick the moment and shoot. It's a crap shoot with the wind some days. Pun intended.

12 rounds on each of 4 targets except last one one has 14 rounds on it. I change targets because some I shoot better than others....go figure. The one with 4 targets on it usually gives me grief. Not so much today.

Haha...well shooting only 1 rifle all the time I guess you get to know it pretty well, even in the wind. Thanks for the kind words.

Having lived in open country, myself, I know how challenging it can be to play the wind they way you do. Yup, I've lived in places so windy that when we got a calm day, it made everyone a bit jumpy.

How's that 1860 holding up? Figure you are at the head of the list for showing what that old design can do. Impressive, as always.

It seems to be holding up just fine. Not sure how many rounds through it now, a couple thousand at least. Looked at the internals last week during cleaning, linkage is tight, all looked like new. Nothing loose, cycles smooth. So far so good.
