Rather interesting

Post by Dahliathemeh » Fri Nov 22, 2019 5:39 pm

For about a month-and-a-half I have had a very bad nagging back problem, it was so bad that at work I couldn't bend over to pick things up. It was also to the point where I could not pick my left leg up when I would get into the car.
Fast forward two weeks ago, I ate something that made me very sick for 5 days. I couldn't keep anything in so I was on a very restricted diet. After 5 days I noticed my back pain going away slowly but surely. Now my back pain is actually down to about 5% if I had to put a number on it. It turns out that I've not had any coffee since I had been sick. So out of curiosity I looked up the correlation between caffeine and back pain. What I found was pretty astonishing. I found tons of articles talking about the very thing I was looking up, one of them being if you have back pain you need to get off the caffeine for good. The first week was horrible but now I'm feeling fine. The back pain is still kind of there but it's going away more and more everyday.
Coffee is only going to be a once in a blue moon thing for me, just homemade juices and water for now on. And I think I need to really get serious about a workout regimen.
I never take myself seriously....

Dang, giving up coffee! If it is working for you, then, much better. Who would have thought? Glad to hear your feeling better.

good to hear you've found something that works for you ... its really interesting to see some things cause issues for some people and no issues whatsoever for others

If I don't drink at least one cup in the morning, I am more likely to get a migraine. On the other hand, if I feel one coming on, coffee early, can help curb it.

Maybe try 1 to get your motor running early on and then switch to Jack Daniels the rest of the day....

I used to drink a couple pots a day and finally realized how stressed out and tense it was making me. Now I make a pot in the morning and have a cup with the remainder in my thermos for work. Sip on it during the day and throw away about a third in the evening. I was surprised at the "withdrawal" I had when I cut back but I am fine with my consumption now. I have also found that some caffeine can help with a headache. Seems counterintuitive.

Glad to hear that you are no longer in pain, Dahli. If going without coffee works for you, that's great. Have you tried de-caf? Just curious.

Glad to hear you solved the problem and are no longer in pain. I had to cut back on caffeine myself. Still have a cup or two in the morning but that's it, no more caffeine for the remainder of my day.

What about the decaffeinated coffee?

My wife has to keep caffine intake to very very low or none and drinks decaffeinated coffee in the morning.
I set the coffee maker up for the decaf and then run my coffee from that thru a single cup filter drip with the "good stuff" for my cup.

@ North country gal there are 2 d words we don't say I'm the house, divorce and decaf. ^_^
Lately I have been taking tea to help my caffeine boost. Maybe a cup every other day.

years ago my wife developed an inability to handle the caffeine in coffee .... she's always liked tea and has had to switch to it all together .... she keeps a bunch of different blends on hand .... none of them cause the same negative reactions she was having to drinking coffee .... I have no clue what the difference in caffeine is between coffee and tea

There is more caffeine in a brewed cup of coffee than tea. Tea also has L-theanine, an amino acid found only in tea, which reduces stress and promotes relaxation. And the antioxidants in tea slow absorption of caffeine.

My GF's son and daughter-in-law had a tea business. They made their own blends. I learned from them. I like tea but can't bring myself to use it as a substitute for coffee, yet. :D

I don't remember visiting that one, and I thought I'd seen everything there was to see in Charleston SC. We spent every summer in a small campground on Isle of Palms until I was 15 yo. One thing we did was visit the historical and tourist places around.

Although not as bad, I would get Back Pain when I drank too much Classic Coke. Not sure if it was the Caramel Color in it or the Caffeine, but keeping away from it sure made the pain go away. I now allow myself no more than one 2-Liter bottle a week. Many times I only have half of that. The stuff ain't really too good for you anyway, lol.

As far as Coffee goes, I was never much of a fan. When I worked a certain job for 3 years, I would buy one cup every morning from the Coffee truck. Once I left that job, I never drank it again. My wife and I have a cup of Tea every morning.
