Reloads and Henry LR

Appears that from I have tried the Henry LR will not chamber reloads. Is this correct?

for liability reasons, Henry cannot recommend the use of handloads in their rifles .... if the handloads meet SAAMI specs, by which all factory ammo must be produced, they will chamber and fire .... all of our rifles (Henry rifles included) and revolvers don't know that factory ammo exist ..

Mine either.

If the reloads are correctly sized, trimmed and bullets properly seated to the correct OAL they should chamber as well (or better) than factory ammo.

Ranmcc, I had problems as well. Please by a RCBS case gauge and you will find that you need small base dies. I have loaded for 35 years and this is the first time that I needed them, but trust me all problems went away.
I found that these chambers are cut at about 0 head space on the gauge, for instance my Winchester 88 in .308 registers a + .006 on a fired shell. I have not had any troubles since purchasing the small base die. Good luck

thanks for your reporting .... glad you found a way to take care of it .... I must admit that I'm a bit puzzled .... if factory loads fire with no problem and the reloads meet the same specs, I don't understand why those reloads cause a problem

I don't reload. But right after I had gotten my LR was shooting factory and reloads from a friend. I was having problems with the bolt seizing up with an 1/8" of the bolt carrier sticking out of the back of the receiver. Would happen with some factory, and with almost all of the reloads. I contacted Henry about the bolt seizer, they had me send the rifle in. When I got it back the repair ticket said "adjusted bolt lockup timing". I have no problems with the reloads now. I had saved a bunch of them from before to tryout again after I got the LR back from Henry.
