Its a suitable box but Henry will tell you to wrap it in that heavy brown paper or use a cover box. Which is a good idea.

So for the folks thatvsent a rifle back ... is the white henry box suitable or will it need an overbox?
The white box is probably ok, however, I didn't want to advertise what was in the package,so
I simply wrapped it with another layer of brown corrugated and taped it up really well. When it arrived back, that is exactly what they did.

When I sent mine back (2017), I received instructions to send it in an unmarked box. So, I went to mine LGS and asked for one. At one point (2018-2019?), Henry was sending boxes with labels for returns. At any rate, you should receive instructions on how to return the rifle.

.
No. Have to use a plain blank outer box. Shipping label only. No other labels or markings. I had to make the outer box. I made space for plenty of padding on the ends as my internal white box had none. When I got my rifle back Henry sent it in a new outer box that I have kept for a future return that I hope never happens. This was in March this year 2019.

I went to Academy and asked for a box. Took them about 15 minutes to find a suitable overbox. Went out of their way. Middle of taking inventory. Good people.

Thank you all. I ordered a case recently from Amazon to use to bring the rifle to the range on motorcycle and I just checked and the whitebox fits in it almost perfectly. Just have to cut out all the amazon labeling. Now to be patient and wait on the shipping label. I miss it already .. damn I hate having to send it in!

On a positive note. I had a ruger gp100 that had to go back after less than a box of ammo and they went over the gun with a fine tooth comb. It was overall better than when I sent it in and its one of my very favorite guns ever and has been with me some 3 years and more than a few hundred rounds.

I'm a bit surprised you don't already have the label. When I did it, they emailed the label and I got it within minutes of my call.

I know the feeling. Had never ever, for anything, needed to send something back for repair before so I was a bit distraught about it. But it was better than Christmas when I knew it was on it way back to me!

Maybe. But we haven't seen from him confirmation that they have. I'm confident they will, but this 'under review' usually hasn't taken this long.

Lol.. of course I have a printer and it even works most of the time.
I was directed to submit a warrenty request online which I did. I just checked because for some reason I am up at 3:30am and it says approved/a shipping label will be sent to you shortly.
I never got an option to print. Trust me .. i cant wait to get this off and fixed

Here is what the site says as of 8am AZ time. I don't know if that means they are sending a label via mail or I am do an email with instructions on how to download and print a label.

It should be sent by email (mine was, before they built the portal). If you don't get it within a day, just call and ask for a confirmation. Good luck.

Yea .. I was hoping to send it off yesterday but its not like its been sitting. I only did the portal yesterday morning and a day wait on approval is not unreasonable.

Still .. Bummer. Retired so while we are far from starving, those big paychecks aren't rolling in every week and I didn't really need a rifle. Just thought it was something neat and had been looking at them for years. In hindsight I am starting to feel like it was a foolish purchase. For $700 I would have liked to get more than 35 rounds out of it.

When I contacted Ruger I had a shipping label in 15 minutes and the gun back in 8 days.

Keep in mind, It's not a very good time of year for fast turn around. Thanksgiving, Christmas, New year etc. Any company could be a bit under staffed because of vacation time, or simply long weekend paid holidays. Hope that does not happen in your case.
Just something, in all fairness to consider.
I'm sure though, that when you get it back, you will be happy you made the purchase.

I can understand. I am not familiar with Ruger. But, anything made by man is subject to having issues. If yours is like mine, you will enjoy shooting it (once, the bugs get worked out).

Might want to check your email spam folder. My label arrived within minutes. It was a PDF file attachment.

Understand the feeling, but it will pass. I was anxious the whole time it was gone. Once you have the rifle back the joy of shooting it will return.

your frustration is understandable .... we had to send our Henry 44 Mag back and, like you, weren't happy to have to do so .... that frustration passed and she's literally fired thousands of rounds since then (over 1,000 in the last month) .... knowing what I know now, if the need arises again I won't hesitate to send her back in certain knowledge that Henry will take care of whatever the problem may be
