The surgeon I saw about my knees recommended o wait until I was less active. Said the knee joints would last longer.

That's very interesting, and will make for quite the conversation next week for me.

The thing that's killing me about this (aside from the pain) is that I can't be MORE active. Well, as before, can't get ahead of myself.

Both of my knees have logged too many hours horseback....right knee has no lube left in it I think. Pretty creaky.

My neighbor has had both of his hips replaced in the last 12 months. He was up and walking within a day or two.

Just amazing, huh? Hard to imagine, but I've heard and read numerous stories like your neighbor's over the last couple of days. Rehab sounds like it's long and slow, but just to be able to function relatively pain-free would make it all worth it.
