I live in central Oklahoma just north of OKC. Overall this is a nice place to live. Four seasons but not harsh winters, somewhat rolling landscape, many lakes, close to big cities if I want to go to one, nice people, good deer hunting, good golf, and OKC is getting better and better each and every day. HOWEVER, if I could relocated to the Hill Country of Texas I would be ecstatic! I am native Texan and an Aggie, I would love to get back to Texas and the Hill Country really revs me up. Hilly, great people, excellent lakes, excellent golf, hunting, and wildflowers in the spring are awesome. A second choice might be south Florida in the Martin County area (east coast about 40 minutes north of Palm Beach). My company is based in New England and I am not interested in going back there due to the cost of living and the prolonged winters, to move from OK and stay with the company would most likely mean Florida or possible Israel (for a few years).

Central North Dakota here, and although I would really enjoy moving to a warmer climate for riding reasons, that more than likely isn't going to happen. We have all 4 seasons here, and the cold one lasts longer than I want it to most of the time, but I grew up in state, lived here for all but one summer, and probably will die here.

The pics are a view I happen to have on my lunch break, right on the outside edge of Mandan. Looking east towards the river valley that separates the 2 cities here.

Very rural mindset for the most part, some want to drag us into the future here, but when one sees all the problems in larger populated areas......i would trade anything for that mess.

So as part of our return trip from Idaho this past weekend there was a 2nd detour (the first was through the John Day Valley in Oregon (already covered in another topic)). This 2nd one, happenstance. Leaving The Dalles we were looking for a place to eat breakfast. Google Maps gave up a list. One place in that list was the 'Country Cafe' 4.5 stars in Lyle Washington, about 15 minutes down the road the other side of 'The Dalles Bridge' over the Columbia River.
The cafe was quite small, the breakfast excellent! Being off season from hiking and wind surfing we had the place to ourselves. Got to having a conversation with the lady owner about the area, it quickly became of interest as a possible place to relocate to. After getting home we spent a bit of time online looking up property values and weather info. Very reasonable property values, at least considerably lower than here. Weather 50+ more days of sun and overall dryer. Also outside the part of the Columbia River Gorge most susceptible the gorge's hurricane force winds and ice storms. 15 minute access to The Dalles in Oregon for sales tax free shopping and no Washington state income tax! Further looking into, but is a very real contender for a place to move to.

There are those who endure very harsh weather, endure extreme heat, extreme cold and many other variables.
I am personally happy in the geographic location where I reside. Have lived from coast to coast and north and south in the USA.

Are you satisfied with where you live? ( for those who are...you're blessed ) . How many would re-locate if they could?

At my age, I ain't going anywhere else at this point, but I'm ok with that. RU...?

Mark I am, the only thing is I wish we had a little more variety of Big game to hunt.
Basically just Whitetails, there are some hogs within a not to long of a drive.
Not that I want those around here, but just something different.

As far as weather, we have 4 seasons, sometimes the Spring and Fall seem kinda short.
As it usually jumps right past those into either Winter or Summer.
But Hey I've been right here in this general area since '68.
The wife has said something about moving closer to the TN. River, but heck that's only a 40 min. drive from home.

I hear Ya Randy regarding the seasonal change pattern. Not much different here. Glad you are happy where you are! Sounds like that's where your roots are.
Probably makes more sense to stay put and plan some trips for the other game you would like to pursue, like your pheasant hunting trip. You ARE in a very nice area after all!☺
