The main reason I wanted it in .45 Colt was as a companion to my ASM-EMF New Dakota Model .45. I plan on using it to hunt pig up in Nortern California. My friend has a pear orchard that is a favorite feeding ground for wild pigs!

Chucksolo1, you're going to love that .45 Colt. I have the same rifle you ordered and it is simply the most fun rifle I own and shoot. And I shoot it a lot. Handloads only. They are awesome rifles.

Actually, I was at one of my local ranges and after shooting, I was browsing and saw the New Dakota in their used gun case. It was an estate sale gun on Consignment and was priced at $399.00. I bought it and it was unfired. Absolutely no timing scratch on the cylinder then nor now after having been shot, and it came with faux ivory grips. The back strap and trigger guard are charcoal grey anodized brass. The gun is in a word, "gorgeous" with color case colored frame and hammer. The trigger is offset to the side as all Colt SAA clones should be. It has the hole for the two notch cylinder pin, but the pin only has one notch so no "safety" on this gun. I shot it for the first time and at 15 yards, it shot low about 2 inches and left about 3 inches. I compensated on my aim and was rewarded with a sub 2 inch group. That is sandbag rested though. I am now looking for a rig to go with it since I will carry it on my pig hunt to northern Cali this winter. I think it will be great to have it along with my Henry BBS .45 Colt.

Thank you for sharing the back story. Unfired for $399, that was a good deal. The Dakota .45LCs in 'new' condition on GB are $400 and up.

I got to hold and fondle my BBS at the range today! I am in love! The checkering on the wood is gorgeous as is the wood itself. It comes with a receiver sock like my Golden Boy. Now, to scope or not to scope, that is the question!!

Got my BBS .45 Colt yesterday. What a beauty. The wood is gorgeous and so is the checkering. I had no idea it would be as heavy as it is. I can only imagine what the brass BB feels like. I love the gun. Will shoot it this weekend. Thanks Henry for such a great rifle.

Congrats! The brass version adds 1.68 lbs and the brass carbine 0.76 lbs on top of the 7 lb BBS.

I have the 45 Colt Henry CCH model. The Nikon P3 2-7x32 shotgun scope is a good fit for it. If you get it with the BDC reticle, you can extend the effective accuracy by using the Nikon app with your load data to calculate the holdover distances. That scope sells for about $150.
