I had CJ5, I think was a 1968. It moved on in 1979. My son was a newer one.

Re: NICE Jeep
I'd agree. I would have skipped the blue accents myself and stuck with a blacked out theme, but that's just me. A few years ago, I looked HARD at a Jeep at a dealership in Richmond. My credit union had preapproved me at 1.9% for twice the Jeep's sticker price.
It was black, nice Charcoal wheels, hard and soft top, winch and lighting package, carpet delete... We kayak fish, so the rubberized flooring was just what you need coming off a pond with slimy mud covered feet. It had a modest lift to go with the 4wd, towing package to handle the light kayak trailer. Perfect....
Asked what the price would be with a check in hand from the credit union, no trade in to worry about. He pointed to the sticker. No discounts, we sell every jeep on the lot before new models arrive. "No incentives at all"?
"If you buy today, I'll push the boss to give you the veteran's appreciation from Jeep. $250 toward the purchase, or $500 credit toward Jeep accessories from the parts depadtment."
I told him I would let him know.

What happened?
We are driving two Nissan Pro4x pick ups ...
A 2010 Titan, and a 2015 Frontier.
If I do buy a Jeep? I will buy used, for cash. Tinker and tweek to get what I Want. That's half the fun, right?

I like our 2016 Wrangler and have done a few things to it. I put on some LED fog Lights and they are bright. Jeeps headlights suck to put it mildly and I did some changing there but still not what I would call great. But there is no end to what one can do with there Jeep thats for sure.

That's a nice thing about a jeep, there are catalogs filled with ways to make it yours.BigAl52 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 10:41 pmI like our 2016 Wrangler and have done a few things to it. We would set it up to tow the yak trailer when appropriate, and use it for short runs into town and such, instead of either of the larger trucks. A fun ride.

Jim's right: interesting color scheme. And that's a lot of silver screw-heads! But, to each his/her own, and it's probably a certainty that there are no two Jeeps exactly alike ANYWHERE!

Re: NICE Jeep
Hey All,
Nice jeep in a Darth Vader kind a way. Fine if you're into that. I'm not. I like light an functional. Heavy wide tires and heavy bumpers an all that just increase wear an tear and cost you fuel economy for no real functional advantage that I can see. My goal is to keep my wrangler light an functional and let the heavy jeeps pay the extra costs. Mine is a daily driver to work and back and it's been in southern alberta, BC, all over Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon off road and on.
I plan to put tubular bumpers a winch, black rhino bantam wheels maybe a carrier on top. I do like the idea of some kind of teardrop trailer.
With jeeps to each their own...

Re: NICE Jeep
I bought an old Army Jeep yrs. ago, 1954 model w/ the overhead valves. Re-worked the engine, painted it. Made a good workhorse
in the woods cutting firewood. It had a couple of bullet holes in the side. Korea maybe? "Nam?
It would run 45 mph, tops.
Traded it in to a 1978 Bronco. Wish I had it back. Jeep prices are ridiculous.

Re: NICE Jeep
I like Jeeps. Some are really set up nicely! Nice enough, that I will offer to pull them out with my 3'rd Gen 4-Runner if they get stuck...

Re: NICE Jeep
I had a '53 CJ3B from early '70s to '84 when I bought a Ramcharger. It came with a heater (no defroster) that I think was an add-on.Grunt67 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 08, 2021 7:33 pmI bought an old Army Jeep yrs. ago, 1954 model w/ the overhead valves. Re-worked the engine, painted it. Made a good workhorse

Only things I added was a driver's side electric wiper, it came with vacuum wipers, if you were going up hill you had to get off the gas to get a swipe. Also installed bigger brakes, when the stock brakes got hot you could literally stand on the brake petal and it would barely slow it down.
Pretty basic, no carpet, no radio, top speed around 60 mph if not going uphill but after a engine rebuild it was very dependable. Had several MG's during that time but they were often down for repair. The jeep and my Honda MT250 Elsinore were my daily driver's.
Wish I still had both of them.

Re: NICE Jeep
as mentioned in the opening post in this thread, my first vehicle was a 1965 Jeep CJ5 .... a heater was a dealer installed option that came in a box in the back .... 2 front seats, no back seat .... no top .... no seat belts .... no radio .... she would do 55 falling off a cliff .... the gas tank was literally mounted between the bottom of the driver's seat and the inside floor .... 4 cylinder Dauntless engine .... 3 speed manual tranny with 2 leavers controlling the 4 wheel drive .... factory installed drain holes in the driver and passenger's floorboard .... we had the heater installed along with a metal Kelly Cab and added Warn manual hubs .... I commuted from home to Western Carolina University for 4 years and she was my daily driver .... in looking back, I wish I still had it
Re: NICE Jeep
Mine had a heater, no defroster. I made one out of a vacuum hose & carpet attachment. Added an electric wiper motor. Very basic, by design. No need for bells & whistles for US use. Made a front & rear bumper out of heavy channel iron. Mostly scrap stuff.dave77 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 12:22 amI had a '53 CJ3B from early '70s to '84 when I bought a Ramcharger. I like the new Jeep pickup. Once we're done running the big diesel F350 rigs here, that might the way to go.

Re: NICE Jeep
we saw a bunch of them towing small to medium length travel trailers while in Texas .... granted the land was pretty flat but none of them showed any difficulty towing their loadsRanchRoper wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 9:10 pmI like the new Jeep pickup. I still haul a stock trailer around so can't let the diesel go just yet, but maybe one day.
