What if my resources do not guide me to a used one. Does anyone have a problem with a NEW one?

This is for you to determine.

Do you NOT have LGSs & pawn shops locally that deal in used guns?
Heck even in my 'small' town area I have two pawn shops that specialize in, and always have a nice stock of quality, used guns.
Both of them are long term businesses with a good handle on the gun market and only buy and trade for quality used guns.
I have bought and traded with both of them for many years.

Do not deal with pawn shops...sorry, I have a problem with the whole pawn shop concept!!!
Pawn shops promote crime. Have lived in many states, and in some, pawn shops were illegal. I agree because they promote crime despite a DEAL you might find at one.

You are no doubt in the minority with your indictment of pawn shops and I certainly hope you do not allow unfounded and opinionated beliefs such as this to influence your perception of other businesses and organizations.

I currently have a nine shot High Standard 'Sentinel'.
Kind of a unique older .22 pistol and are starting to get hard to find.

One of the first .22s I ever shot. My Father owned one for 30+ years. I think one of my Sisters has it now. I put thousands of rounds through it.
It is a 4" barrel and pretty accurate from what I remember.

I'm with Ed. There are so many used Single Sixes around you can et them at very affordable prices and I do agree that that the older vintages had better QC. Ruger was a different company when Bill Ruger was running the show. Not that you can find some great new production Single Sixes, but I prefer the vintage ones for sentimental reasons if nothing else. I can promise you, that my vintage Single Sixes do have better polish and bluing than any new production Singe Sixes you can buy, too.

I’m not a collector, I’m a shooter, so when I acquire guns that are too pretty to shoot, I tend to sell them. I had a 1957 flatgate Single-Six. When it showed up at the ffl, it was way nicer than the seller described on Gunbroker. I did shoot it a couple of times, but sold it.

The Wrangler is a gun I will shoot a lot. I’ll take good care of it, as I do with all my guns, but I won’t be afraid to shoot it every day.

Simply put..it promotes larceny amongst drug addicts. Steal something and run to the pawn shop for some drug cash.
It is not uncommon to see the local police or sheriff cruisers at the pawn shop looking for stolen goods.
A good friend of mine is a local cop and can attest to this.
Why do you think they are illegal in some states.....shady deals!!
This is NOT just MY opinion. No personal experience here..am not a criminal nor will I ever be!!
If I am a minority here; I'm fine with that. Many minorities on the world.
I might add, aside from guns, my son went to one of the local pawn shops one day and paid $75.00 for a compressor.
Got home and it leaked...non repairable. Took it back literally within 1/2 hour and all they would give him back was $10.00.

Blaming pawn shops for promoting 'larceny' is like blaming the manufacturer of certain 'items' for the criminal manner in which they are sometimes used.
So pawn shops are illegal in certain states and is the crime in these states lower because of it? I highly doubt it.
Look at the states where certain items are 'illegal' and essentially banned from private ownership yet the crime committed with these 'items' is some of the highest in the nation - I'll use the example of Illinois - specifically Chicago.
I think we have a problem with drugs and the people using them as the primary promoters of crime and not pawn shops. Are the pawn shops manufacturing the drugs and selling them?
If a person attempts to sell a stolen item to a pawn shop it was initiated by the person and not the business. Besides there are plenty of avenues for people to sell stolen goods uninhibited - ever hear of Ebay, Craigslist or Facebook?
I am sorry for you sons misfortune however did he NOT perform a function check of the compressor before he bought it?
This would be not unlike, say buying a gun at a pawn shop and not handling it, cycling it or inspecting the barrel and internals and then discovering later it has problems.
Pawn shops are an excellent resource for used items for those with the fortitude to work with and deal with them - and not avoided because of a maligned belief they 'promote' crime.

Ditto, trust me when I say that we shoot all our old Single Sixes and love them. Some of them are pretty, but not too pretty to shoot. What I really like about Ruger Single Sixes is their durability. You can buy a well worn used SS and still not likely ever wear it out. You can get one of these for even less.

There is 1 thing about the Wrangler that would bother some shooters over 40 years old. Actually is a “thing” about all Ruger Revolvers. Is called TRANSFER BAR. A turn off for some shooters.

If I were in the market for another .22 revolver, I think I would go for a 10 or 12 shot. When 'in the groove' the mood is often broken when having to stop and reload.

I have a Single Ten, it is a really nice revolver; shoots great, feels great, looks great, REALLY don't like the adjustable sights. I'm looking forward to getting a Wrangler, a fixed sight Single Six, and probably a Bearcat or two.

I finally got to hold a 4.20" stainless Bearcat today, it is a touch on the small side for my giant hands, but since recoil is almost non-existent I don't think the trigger guard touching my middle finger will be an issue.
