.357 Accuracy Standard

My standard for accuracy is: "All shots touching", on target.
With my 357 Henry, I am looking for this accuracy standard at 50 yards. <(sound reasonable?)

So far, I am getting close with hand loads, but not quite there yet.

However, I have discovered that factory ammo by AGUILLA, 158 gr. JFP, (believe it or not), will meet the
50 yards "All shots touching:, standard.

I thought I would pass this information on AGUILLA 158 gr. JFP ammo on to forum members.
This ammo is available at our local Academy Sports store and it is reasonably priced. I am sure it can also be found on line.

Hope this was a help to some others who are chasing 357 accuracy with their Henry Big Boy Rifles.

Feel free to chime in if you have found other types of factory ammo that shoots well in your Henry 357 rifles.

Out of curiosity, what is your best handload formula.

You asked what is my best handload formula?
Well, 357cal./ 158gr. JFP bullets over 8.5 grains of IMR Hi-Skor 800-x will usually produce around a three shot, inch group with my Henry rifle. < This is the accuracy load from the Nosler #3 Manual.
Another load that shoots similarly is: 357 cal./ 110 gr. JHP bullets over 18.5 grains of IMR 4227. <That accuracy load is from the Ken Waters, "Pet Loads" manual.
Both of the above loads are with CCI small pistol primers and R.P. , 357 brass and a taper crimp.
Neither of the above loads meet my accuracy standard of "All Shots touching", at 50 yds., but they are close to it.

I have shot Aguilla .22 LR and some 9mm. I have not seen any of their ammo in other calibers in this area.

There is one LGS that has been stocking GECO, which is a German ammo manufacturer. I have tried some of their .22 LR, 9mm, .38 sp, and 5.56. All have performed as well as any of the more popular ammo brands and pricing is very similar if not slightly cheaper.

I will have to see if I can find some Aguilla in .357.

I do the cowboy thing ............ Here is my 38 spec . Remember these are cast bullets loaded for 750 FPS to shoot on steel and accurate in not important . This is the 1st and last time they both guns were shot on paper target .
