Actually, this bucket list is fun to think about. It involves looking back to remember what I wanted to do when younger, and didn't get to do. Then figure what might still be a "can-do."

I've done a little train travel, but would like to do more. The younger-age "dream train trip" was taking the Trans Siberian Railway, with a sight seeing stop-over at Lake Baikal. The beauty of nature from the photos I've seen is abundant there. I've already done lengthy bus travel along the southern border of Siberia, and it was very beautiful and interesting. But definitely not the same as the train. TSR never happened. BTW, I've also read that many people travel the TSR during the Siberian winter. Now that would be a tremendous train trip!

During the years my youngest daughter was an international tour director, I had spent some time (with her help), looking at the various train journeys through Canada. Being so much closer than Russia, Canada is still a possibility. And I would prefer doing that travel in wintertime. :*)

Last item for my bucket list is also doable. I'd like to car-travel again from MO along the Oregon Trail. This would be my third time and there are still many stops I'd like to make. Much to see. At the end of the trail on the West Coast, my daughter lives near Portland. So I'd have a "camping" spot at her home. From there I'd travel north into WA and hopefully get to do one thing I missed before when I lived in the Pacific Northwest. I was in Bremerton, WA in the late 90s, and I saw an aircraft carrier at the naval yard. I'd sure like to walk the decks of an aircraft carrier someday. I'd say that would easily fit into my small bucket.

We have also considered a River Cruise. Not interested in a cruise on a floating hotel on the open sea and thousands of people all trapped together
The train might be a good option for a perspective from land.

Was visiting a friends store in Red Wing, Mn. which is right on the Mississippi. There was a very large cruise boat docked there and the city was entertaining hundreds of folks from it.
Turns out there are several that cruise up and down the Mississippi stopping a cities all along the way. The company even had a fleet of buses stationed in Red Wing to accommodate the passengers.

I wouldn't mind trying that.

The packages I see are for 9 days and run from two thousand to four thousand dollars depending on amenities. For that you get all food, drinks, (but not cocktails), entertainment, shore time, ect. Kinda spendy but it is all inclusive. I guess you have to make arrangements to fly back.

My brother and his wife own the Bayside Steal House restaurant in Red Wing. Tomorrow they have two bands playing outside, only one I remember is the Daisy Dillman Band that I used to follow back in the late seventies when I lived in the Minneapolis area. Sounds like a great time but I cannot get away.

Red Wing is a really nice river town with a lot to see.
My neighbor runs the Red Wing Pottery Museum along with Larry's Jugs where he buys and sell Red Wing Pottery.
The old Pottery factory is no longer in production but there is a very healthy hobby of collecting the different
items that were produced there. Some go for a lot of money.

Thought I would throw this out there out of curiosity.
The highest percentage of us are older, so, I'm figuring many might have some thoughts on this issue. Maybe some have already satisfied their desires.
I don't expect a whole lot, but, there are a few things I would still like to do and places to see.
My first career transferred me across the country, so I became a career renter. Main thing on my list was to buy my own home so I had a place to leave to my son. I achieved that at a late age.
Although I have traveled the country a lot, still have not seen the Grand Canyon...hope to do so.
Anyway, I think of this topic a lot anymore, as I'm not getting any younger and a couple health issues are prompting these thoughts.
Please share if you wish to. Maybe things already realized, or things planned/hoped for.

Mark, after you visit the Grand Canyon, I strongly recommend driving through Flagstaff down into Sedona by way of Oak Creek Canyon. I loved the area around Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona. It’s one of those areas I could very happily retire to someday.

  The national parks in Utah
  Summit county Colorado, the areas around Tahoe or Park City Utah (for a ski trip while I’m still “young”)
  Alaska
  Victoria/Vancouver
  The train trip across Canada
  More deer hunting trips
  More range trips
  More mountain time
  A real fly fishing trip (I am a complete novice and some professional instruction would be fantastic)

Mark, after you visit the Grand Canyon, I strongly recommend driving through Flagstaff down into Sedona by way of Oak Creek Canyon. I loved the area around Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona. It’s one of those areas I could very happily retire to someday.
