Transitions
transitions from one segment of our lives to another are common for all of us .... some can go smoothly, others can be disjointed .... while our 2+ month trip to South Dakota went well, the transition from winding it up to moving to our next adventure has been a bit chaotic (at best) .... out tip scheduled called for us to get back to Asheville on Sept 20th where we would visit with Mom and then get back home on the 22nd .... Mom passed away on the 18th and from that point on, many things have caromed all over the place .... when we arrived home the 22nd the high tech thermostat that controls our heat/AC was bad .... that fact came as no surprise .... my wife can control from her phone and we knew it wasn't working .... unfortunately, the company won't even talk to you about working on it unless you are standing in front of the systems wall mounted monitor .... needless to say the temp in the house was very high when we were trouble shooting it .... once they determined a part has to be replaced, the earliest they could get a person there to replace it is tomorrow (the 29th) .... so, we decided to set our camper up in the back yard and stay in it until our home AC is working again ... as an example :
Aug 22 arrive home
Aug 23 - 25 camp with our club at a CG just over an hour east of our home
Aug 26 dental appointment for me and medical appoint for Maureen .... state safety inspection for our Sportchassis ... keep grandson after school
Aug 27 medical appointment for me .... state safety inspection for our 2000 Buick ... keep grandson after school
Aug 28 renew license plates for Sportchassis and Buick ... keep grandson after school
Aug 29 tech scheduled to come and get our home AC working .... get ready for a drive back to Asheville... keep grandson after school
Aug 30 - Sept 1 to Asheville for memorial service for my Mom
at this point, things are way up in the air for next week .... no clue where we go from here

Re: Transitions
kind comments appreciated .... there are many old jokes that center on retired folks being so busy that they can't understand how they ever had time to hold down a full time job ..
.. that concept seems to be in full force for us ..
Re: Transitions
.
retired for me is catching up on all the neglected land and house maintenance I didn't have enough time to stay on top of while working. guess I had quite a backlog. been at it for just over 3years now.

Re: Transitions
Very sorry for your loss.
I understand completely as I lost my father in December of 2014 and mother in December of 2015. I was very close to them and think about them often
Just wondering however you show several dates as September - I think you meant August?
And you show 'Sept 30 - Aug 1 to Asheville for memorial service for my mom'
Again I believe you mean Aug 30 - Sept 1st.
Sorry but I am a stickler for detail and notice these things!

Re: Transitions
concern and support appreciated .... we arrived back home from South Dakota on Aug 22nd and today is the first where we are able to getting back into the normal grind .... we have just started moving stuff from the camper back into our house .... job one is to get the steaks we brought back from SD into the freezer .... after that to empty both camper Fridges, defrost, then clean them .... removing and rebuilding the carrier we use on the back of our camper is next on the list .... right now scheduling for this and other such things is highly dependent on what Dorian decides to do
