June 4th Report Big Boy 45C

Post by RanchRoper » Sat Jun 04, 2016 9:01 pm

Nice night. Slight breeze. Shot ok. Again 50 yds off hand, factory sights. This is the Winchester 250gr LFN. My rifles favorite ammo. Mine too. Still pulling left but a few on the mark. Not a bad night's shooting.

I also think the leather cover on the stock helped reduce movement when I fired. I tried to leave the rifle in place, cock the lever and fire. Less time spent holding and sighting too. As soon as I got thhe sight lined up I fired. Usually I hold way too long with the sights lined up, then it wobbles and I lose it. I have to trust myself more that I can get on target, and pull the trigger. This was 20 rounds.

I really like this ammo. The brass is a little blacker after it ejects, but it seems very consistent at POI. It even sounds better when it hits the wood if that makes any sense, but it seems to smack the backboard with real authority. I think the .45 Colt Henry is a pretty formidable rifle. I am so happy with my choice of caliber. :D :D

Nice shooting. I have also found Winchesters a little dirty but consistent. They make a nice 300 gr 45/70 round.

That is fantastic for offhand at 50 yards.
