Shims for H012c (45colt)
Shims for H012c (45colt)
Has anyone used shims from Trigger Shims on the BBS 45colt? I dont see where they make a shim package specificaly for the H012c. Bruce
Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
The only shims I've ever seen or heard about are those that limit side-to-side lever movement. Is that what you're shimming?

What exactly do you mean by this?Has anyone used shims from Trigger Shims
Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
Yes Esquared, the kit includes 1 set each for the trigger, hammer, and lever. Trigger shims is the company that is making them.
Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
No experience with them here, nor do I know of any (you might "Search" for some keywords).
Are needing/wanting to shim just the lever or is there something about the trigger and/or hammer that you're tweaking? I guess I'm not following the benefit(s), as my Henry levers' triggers have been pretty good out of the box. But then again, I'm not sure what "shimming them" brings to the party.

Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
Im wanting to take some of the slop out of the lever. I probably wont use the other shims, but they come as a set so.... There is really no problem as far as function goes. As a side note, i will be putting a williams reciever sight on the rifle. It uses the same hole spacing amd thread size that is on the Henry. I called Williams and they said to get the sight thats fits the Marlin 336.... of which i just happen to have a JM stamped one. I did some quick measuring., and sure enough, hole spacing is the same.

Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
When you do get the Williams sight mount it in REVERSE and flip the windage slide around so it is level. It will fit better without hanging off the rear of the receiver. As a side note, i will be putting a williams reciever sight on the rifle. It uses the same hole spacing amd thread size that is on the Henry.
And FWIW the slop in the lever is normal. If you feel you must shim it however I would not use steel shims but recommend you cut your own out of brass shim stock.

Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
We have their lever shims on a few of our Henrys - they work well. I think you could probably fit their H006 kit onto an H0012 Henry - the lever screws are the same size/thread. Great little mom&pop company out of Nebraska...
Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
Thank you very much. I thought more people might be using the shims, but i guess not. I went ahead and odered a set and while i was at it, i ordered a set for my Bisley Blackhawk .45 colt as it is showing some galling on the hammer. Thanks agian, Bruce

If you are getting a Williams 336 sight it may hang over the hammer a bit. It dose on the brass models at least.
I don't know what your plans as far a shoot are. If your going to need a lot of target adjustments then an FP modle allows for adding target knobs at a later point.

See Ed's post above (and pic). Seems he just flipped it around and no overhang! Who knew?Ojaileveraction wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 3:00 pmIf you are getting a Williams 336 sight it may hang over the hammer a bit. It dose on the brass models at least.

Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
Ed's image is of Williams WGRS 336 receiver sight.
The Williams 336 im taking about is another model. You can flip around the 336 also, but you can't reverse the appiture as you can with the WGRS.
Williams FP/tk 336
Williams FP 336
Williams 5d 336

BTW Ed blew some minds when he figured that whole thing out !See Ed's post above (and pic). Seems he just flipped it around and no overhang! Who knew?d
Re: Shims for H012c (45colt)
Got it, Ojai. I have zero knowledge of Williams lineup, so good catch. It's kind of like figuring out the right Lyman Globe.
Yeah, Ed should just open a gunsmithing operation.
